We stayed at Punga cove as part of pre-booked accommodation while tramping the Queen Charlotte track. Location and rooms were great. Unfortunately the service and food at their restaurant were terrible! They were informed well in advance that I am a vegetarian, and they were aware of it when we booked in. Very little/no effort was done to accommodate me.... More

My wife, her parents, our 13 month old daughter and I stayed here for two nights to attend my wife's brother's wedding. The location was a little difficult to get to as we had to go from Wellington to Picton and then a water taxi to Punga but being surrounded by trees and hearing the sounds of nature again was... I had been to a wedding at Punga Cove about 13 years ago and had really great memories of a "Fiji' in the Sounds experience. Now with 2 kids and husband in tow, we ventured back for a 3 night get away. We choose the Champagne Chalet as it had two bedrooms and a loft. The chalet was lovely, tastefully... More

We stayed here while walking the Queen Charlotte track in April. The location is terrific, the bar on the jetty is great and the accommodation was very comfortable. However, the meal we had in the restaurant was one of the worst anyone in our party had ever experienced. The food was pretty terrible, but the atrocious service was what really... More

We are devastated and disappointed to read your Trip Advisor report. Clearly, we want to address this whole instance. Perhaps you could email to our personal address RGEFaulkner@xtra.co.nz in order that we can be specific in handling this occurence. There is absolutely no excuse for the menu not to be delivered as described and should there have been any problem,... More

We stayed 2 nights at Punga Cove (a little dubious after reading the other reviews here) - and we loved every minute. We opted for the double backpackers room right at the top of the hill and steps to the restaurant. The room was very basic and comfortable, and we slept soundly after slogging it out on the Queen Charlotte... More

We hiked into Punga Cove on our QCT walk and at first thought we had stepped back to the 70s. The whole place looks tired and we climbed the hill to our A frame with some trepidation. However, the accommodation although old and tired looking on the outside has obviously been refurbished with new bathrooms, light fittings and a comfortable... More

Would not choose to go back. The place is tired and needs some updating. Room was clean but for the price paid too expensive. Would have been happy if paying backpacking rates. Situation is great and they do have all amenities for a remote location plus room was clean. Food was very average and staff not that friendly or welcoming.... More

We arrived by boat at the dock of Punga Cove Resort. Our first impressions were not good. To get to reception you have to walk up an undulating path past some shabby looking work rooms. We had a friendly greeting and were lead to our room. Fortunately, the room was much, much better than what we first saw of the... More

As you walk from the jetty, you walk over the "Queen's Chain" which has been deliberately preserved with native trees providing welcome shade during warm weather. Our customers appreciate the identification of native trees throughout the Punga Cove grounds. In this remote area, it is not possible to have mobile phone coverage, nor wireless internet to accommodation. Some customers appreciate... More

We recently stayed at punga cove for 5 night with our young children and grandparents. The location and views are fantastic. The rooms are a little dated but are really clean and the beds are great. The service and staff were fantastic and made or stay great. Other reviews have complained that it's not 5 star but the staff more... More

It's incredibly expensive and as others have commented the cafe could be a real money spinner if a) it wasn't so expensive and b) had a serious make over. New furniture, new staff. The girl behind the bar didn't really have a clue - only one of the salt pots had salt in them and I had to ask for... More

After reading your other reviews from various locations around the world, it is obvious you have not often stayed in remote accommodation. You commented when you were here that the Queen Charlotte Track was a little tedious - just bush walking. clearly the walk has varied terrain with superb views and amazing flora and fauna. You had a spectacular view... More
