It is difficult to say what the best features are of Stonefly because they excel in so many areas. Our trip was a fly fishing trip and we were not disappointed by any stretch but the place would enthral any visitors. However the wonderful hospitality and incredible culinary delights exceeded our expectations by a good margin . I cannot overstate... More

There a holidays... and then there are HOLIDAYS... Our stay at Stonefly was just one of those holidays that we wish could have continued for much longer. The lodge itself, the surroundings, unbelievable (and challenging) fishing, exquisite food, first-class service in all respects and fantastic company, will be etched in our memories for a very, very long time. I can't... More

Stonefly Lodge is a great addition to the New Zealand fishing lodge community. It is superb in every way. The lodge was built with great care and attention to detail , with guest comfort upmost in their planning. The lodge is in a beautiful part of the South Island, but alone in the Nelson area for its level of service... More

We had very high expectations, and Stonefly Lodge far exceeded every single one. The lodge is beautiful, planned and built with care and great attention to detail. The setting is amazing and breathtaking; the personalised, warm, friendly service from Kate, John and Brenda is wonderful and the food provided by Kate rates up there with the best restaurants we have... John and Kate are fantastic hosts who will stop at nothing to make your stay an enjoyable one. The rooms are clean and cozy and the warm wooden tones will have you dreaming of reeling in large brown trout from the Motueka River. What impressed me most about Stonefly was the incredible attention to detail; John and Kate have designed... More

Stonefly lodge is 6 star. Just superb. The hosts John and Kate could not have been nicer. Kates cooking was top class. We wanted for nothing. However, the trip was almost ruined by the booking agent we used. This was BestFlights.com.au. They made a mistake with my name and then refused to help fix the problem. They only answer their... My husband and I return again and again to this outstanding lodge. Even if you don't fish, there is so much to do and see in the immediate area. Kate and John are wonderful hosts. We experienced our "best ever day" of brown trout fishing during our Nov '11 stay. We always meet fun people - some we meet up... More

My husband and I visited the Stonefly Lodge on our honeymoon last year. We loved it so much we went back for a full week of fishing this year. John and Kate are fabulous hosts. We feel like we are visiting old friends when we stay there. The lodge is amazing and the food is off the charts. Any and... More

Stonefly is a relatively new (opened in October '09) lodge about 45 minutes south of Nelson. The owners, John and Kate Kerr, obviously carefully planned and built the lodge, which accomodates a maximum of eight guests. The lodge is "off the grid" and generates its own hydro and solar power. The facilities are top notch. The food is superb, prepared... More
