We stayed 2 nights at the lodge in a family room. Despite congenial hosts the room was very small and sparsely equipped. It was disappointing in comparison with all our other stays during our 3 week tour. Location is very good, but price a little expensive. Kitchenette raised some health and safety concerns for us and was a challenge to... More

We stayed here for the Test match in March. It's only about 10 minutes walk from the cricket ground, so very handy, especially if there's rain around! The accomodation was good, with plenty of room, and everything we needed. Luckily our unit was right at the back, so the busy road was not a noise issue. The centre of Wellington... More

Fantastic location, cross the road and you're in Courtney Place. Yes, a little noisy but what can you expect when you're in the city centre (I took earplugs & had no problems sleeping). The owner was welcoming & pointed us in the direction of our motel unit. It was upstairs and at the top of the stairs we were greeted by... More

We stayed at the Halswell Lodge one night. The room was small - not much extra space other than room for the beds - the bathroom was so narrow, I don't think a large person could fit. The bathroom sink drain was dirty and full of hair .. needless to say, we didn't use the shower. There also was minimal... More

This hotel was not much more than the price of a backpackers but well worth the money. The staff were friendly and loaned us a much needed umbrella on our stay. The location was perfect - right near the centre of Wellington but not in the very centre which meant you could experience Wellington but not get disturbed at night... More

Just a few steps from Courtney Place this lodge is an excellent base to explore the citylife of Wellington. Ask for the rooms in the villa in the back of the place and enjoy a stay in a historic house in the heart of Wellington. Good parking facilities and adequate service of the hosts at the reception.

Only here for one night before catching interislander ferry. Central location is good and very convenient for dropping our hire car back. We just had a basic twin room in main building as we didnt arrive until late afternoon and had to leave around 7am. Bathroom very basic, felt like I was in a hostel. Room very small, certainly couldnt... More

Stayed at Halswell lodge for work. There are three types of accommodation. I stayed in the old house. Beautiful building. Huge room. Was a bit noisy in the morning though as the walls aren't too well insulated. Very friendly at checkin and great location for Courtney place restaurants and bars. Overall pretty good value but don't expect anything too modern.

We were looking for a location to stay, close to Massey University, to stay at while settling our son into Wellington for the first time. We had driven to Wellington, and they offered parking as part of the deal. The location was the best part - eastern end of Courtney Place area. the accommodation was average at best - reasonable... My partner and I stayed here for one night on a stopover in Wellington. Overall it was a pleasant stay, besides the heat in the room. Given the proximity of the hotel to the building next door, even with the window open there was no breeze. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean, although the shower was too high... More
