We found heaven right here on earth, with Michael and Heather, the proprietors. They made us feel right at home. Arranged for us to go to the Mitai Maori Experience, which was great. Then the next morning arranged for us to go zip lining which was another wonderful experience. When Michael found out my husband wanted to trout fish, he showed... More

Nicara Lodge is beautfully positioned on the lake, 6km West of town centre, impecably apppointed to the highest standards - wholly reflective of the hosts. It is highly recommended for anyone looking for an active holiday and assistance in planning and organising their time in the Rotorua area or New Zealand in general. We stayed for four nights and Mike... More

After being on our honeymoon for 1.5 weeks, I wanted to have a place to recharge and get First Class treatment. First Class is an understatement. Mike and Heather (owners) clearly have a passion for providing the best stay and area experience possible. I wish I could of been there for few more days.

Spent 2 nights here with Mike and Heather and had a truly wonderful experience. These are two of the most accomodating people you would ever want to meet; whether it was helping us structure our days in Rotorua, organising dinner bookings for us or even typing up the recipe for Heather's fantastic muesli, nothing was too difficult. The personal touches... More

We loved staying at Nicara Lodge with Mike and Heather. They gave us a gracious warm welcome and were extremely accommodating, even with an early arrival and a late departure. Our breakfasts were elegantly presented and scrumptious. Mike was endlessly helpful in providing advice regarding trip logistics.

Our family did a North Island road trip over 7 days, and of all our lodging the Nicara Cottage was HANDS DOWN the best The hosts Mike and Heather were incredibly friendly and helpful, going out and beyond their way to accomodate us. They were even helping us with our travel plans out of Rotoroa after we checked out! Our... More
