2 nights at the Captain Cook motel and wished we could of stayed longer. Firstly, the welcome on arrival and all of the staff during our stay were fantastic. Secondly, cleanliness + water pressure +. We did'nt use the restaurant but had coffee there in the morning whilst reading the local papers, having a TV in this area also meant... More

Spotlessly clean and tidy motel unit. Basic layout but has everything you'd expect and is very good value for money. No hesitation recommending the Captain Cook. More

We stayed in a studio, which was fairly small. The queen bed was OK, pillows were nice. We were provided tea, coffee & biscuits as well as cold water in the fridge. Continental breakfast was standard, cereals and canned fruit. The bathroom was very compact, but thankfully had a shelf area for your things. We were happy to find laundry,... More

Close to city centre, close to beach (no view and no direct access to beach, but it's only a couple of hundred metres away), close to information centre. Not sure if all units have spa baths, ours did (a reason for booking here). Usual selection of basic teas and instant coffee, and they give you a 300ml bottle of milk... More

A well presented clean room had every thing you needed including chilled water in fridge. Friendly staff and our unit was nice and quiet. Would stay again. More

I am a regular traveller to Gisborne and prefer to stay at this motel. The staff are friendly and aproachable, the units clean, and is within walking distance to the beach and shops. More

The place was empty on a Friday night. Found the room a little noisy , probally needs some real double glazing. Room clean and tidy, Staff friendly. Lacked the wow factor. I would probally stay else where on my next visit. More

Overall I would say not a bad place to stay and in my experience of NZ motels and hotels falls into the category of meeting my expectations. The room (No4) is brand new, immaculate without any nasty's to report, like I have found in other hotels before. Well done cleaning team. The bed was uncomfortable but in fairness I have... More

This motel is very close to the main roads, yet very quiet. My room was spacious, very attractive and in immaculate condition. The kitchen area had fridge and microwave, The bathroom was so clean, it looked brand new! The carpark is fenced off from the road. The beach is less than 5 minutes walk. Town centre is about 10 minutes... More
