We stayed one night at the Shamrock as we were hot air ballooning the next day. The Shamrock is conveniently located pretty much right next door to the meeting point for the hot air ballooning. We got to the Shamrock late and left early so this will be a short review! I can say the reception staff were extremely helpful... More

The Shamrock Hotel is an old hotel, built in 1866 and has Colonial Elegance in that poor traveller sort of way. You will need to ignore the "Under Construction"work being conducted which has been ongoing for a very long time Its what you would expect. Old and out of shape. Compared to other places in this town that we have stayed the Shamrock far outshines any. There are cheaper and more expensive bed and breakfasts but for Hotel accommodation this is the only place to stay. The Shamrock Hotel is an old hotel, built in 1866, in the main street of Northam that is being 'done up'. It's website says '13 individually designed suites combine colonial elegance with integrated modern facilities'. This includes lots of ugly English hunting prints and each room having a name rather than a number, perhaps you know the kind of thing?.... More
