The Corkman is a small and cosy hostel situated in leafy Carlton, minutes from Melbourne CBD. We aim to provide clean, affordable accommodation, and pride ourselves on our genuine Irish welcome! Let The Corkman be your base as you wander the city's streets and famed laneways and discover Melbourne's many secrets. Our friendly staff is always willing to help and we offer a wide range of local knowledge. The hostel is above a lively Irish pub, famous for its weekly live Irish music session. The building itself is called the Carlton Inn and has been here for 150 years. We have a varied clientele, from impoverished students in for a parma and a pot, to business types and tradies having a quiet one after work. We also attract ex-pats looking for the ever elusive good pint of Guinness (outside of Ireland that is!) and the Corkman serves one of the best pints in Melbourne. Come on in and try one for yourself, we always have room for more regulars. Carlton is one of the older suburbs in Melbourne, and its university presence, fine Victorian architecture and Italian heritage combine to make this one of the most desirable addresses in the city. The hostel itself is situated between two small parks and Lygon Street, the famed strip of Italian restaurants, cafes and shops, lies to the east of us. With a number of trams on our doorstep you are never far from any of the sights of the city.
