This hotel exudes luxury, solitude and graciousness. From the time you enter through the automatic gates into the secluded parking area, you are treated as royalty. Here are the highlights: Pros: -Beautiful union of modern architecture to the existing historic structure. -Fabulous hosts that attend to every want and desire. -Modern, ultra luxurious room complete with fine loose leaf teas... Thomas Barker, the general manager of this superb establishment, has a friendly, easygoing manner that allows guest to thoroughly enjoy this jewel in Hobart. The resident chef made the best scrambled eggs I've ever had. Everything about this hotel will amaze you, the rooms, the art, the food, the view from the garden. Relax and enjoy! More

What an outstanding hotel the Islington is. This is a truly spectacular venue, the ambience is sublime. You must have dinner in one night, the chowder outstanding the rack of lamb delicious and the chocolate fondant delightful. We were at the Islington for our wedding anniversary and it was the perfect way to spend our celebration. The honour system in... More

Thanks to JC for using all the adjectives I usually do when talking to friends and colleagues about Islington; comfortable, elegant, casual, luxurious. The ability to produce an attentively relaxed guest relations experience is a rare almost unique feature of the hotel, and Chef Jonathan Alexander’s menu is consistently producing out the type of unpretentious dishes I want to see... From the moment we drove in the private gates this hotel surpassed our expectations. The staff were lovely, the setting so romantic and the room was immaculate. Too tired to venture back in to Hobart we decided to stay for dinner (cooked by the in house chef) where we sampled mussels, lamb and an outstanding seafood chowder. Our garden room... More

The Islington offers a unique experience to travellers visiting Hobart. From the georgian facade to the luxurious public rooms it is an absolue delight. My favourite space is the wonderful conservatory area sipping a glass of wine in front of the fire looking out at Mt. Wellington in the distance. Added to this luxury is a wonderful chef who provides... More

The conservatory is my favourite space also; winter, summer, anytime the room’s ambient temperature is ingeniously regulated by way of underfloor heating in winter and temperature controlled louvers to create a cooling breeze in summer. More

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on our wedding night. The hotel is luxurious and very comfortable with just about any desire catered for. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the breakfast spot on. The gardens are lovely and pleasant for a short stroll. More

It’s nice to see that locals choose Islington as a special getaway as well as those from further afield. None of our rooms have a 2 night minimum stay as some boutique properties do so we’re perfect for an anniversary, wedding night or birthday. More

We only had one night at the gorgeous Islington but it had me wishing for more!!! It is out of the way (5 minutes drive from the busy downtown area) but not at all inconvient if you have rented a car. The hotel is a converted historic home that is full of exquisite and eclectic art as well as fine... More

Lovely comments, thank you. I agree that Australians continually tack unnecessary and hidden charges to a bill more often than is strictly polite. When we offer ‘all inclusive’ we mean it! Full cooked breakfast, barista coffee, non alcoholic or full mini bar depending on room selection, unlimited internet access, secure parking, we’ll even do a load of non-delicate washing for... More

Gorgeous building and garden. Great service. Makes you feel right at home. Food quality excellent - enjoyed both breakfast and dinner there. A bit further out from city centre but definitely worth every penny. More

Thanks to an obviously well travelled and experienced ‘tripadvisor ‘, we appreciate everyone who takes time to comment but especially those who enjoy the areas within our hotel we take particular pride like ‘excellent food’ and ‘making you feel right at home’ with ‘great service’. More
