I was staying at Waves and Wildlife with my friend and it is true... Waves: the beach is just 200m away and... Wildlife: every day we had breakfast on the porch and there were a bunch of Kangaroos just hanging out in the sun and in the shade. It is quiet and a cafe just down the hill where you... More

My wife and I have just returned from a five-day stay at Waves and Wildlife and hve nothing but praise for it. One evening, we counted 61 kangaroos hopping near our cabin as the beautiful sunset unfolded. They are not quite tame enough to touch but the owner, Paul Stanton, also runs an animal sanctuary, just up the hill, where... More

Stayed here for 3 nights and cannot fault it for the price. Fabulous view of Stokes Bay - we had dinner on the balcony every night. Fun being amongst the kangaroos and wallabies too. Highly recommended.

We first stayed here in January 2009 for ten days and loved it so much we recently returned for another week in paradise. The location is perfect, overlooking the bay and with a wonderful beach close by. Kangaroos and wallaroos are seen all around the cottages at night. The cottages are simply but tastefully appointed with everything you need (BBQ,... More

Stokes Bay beach is gorgeous which is why we wanted to stay in the area. We stayed at two other places on the island where we were surrounded by bushland and animals so Waves and Wildlife is very barren in comparison. The cabins are the usual type, but nicely decorated. However they're very close together (you'll be able to see... More

Thank you for your review. Obviously it is disappointing to know that you found nothing appealing at Waves & Wildlife apart from the interior decor. We try to provide as much honest information as possible to avoid guest’s disappointment. If we feel it is not the right spot for someone or they are not able to stay long enough to... More

This is a very special place. Having traveled many parts of the world and having stayed at many hotels, resorts and 5 Star locations, I have encountered a number of great hotel rooms, but Waves and Wildlife is a special place to relax and take your mind off the stresses of life. The Cottages were well equipped and we cooked... More

The cottages were spotless, comfortable and fully equipped. The location is fantastic - the hikes in the area are beautiful and the beach below is world class. We were surrounded by nature and animals. It was so peaceful there. Stokes bay is one of the nicest on the island - and it is in the middle of the island so... More

We stayed in a one bedroom cottage for 4 nights over Christmas and had a wonderful time. The cottage was very well equipped and extremely comfortable. The location is remote, so stock up on everything you need in Kingscote before driving to Stokes Bay. The local beach is beautiful. Walking in Flinders Chase national park is also highly recommended. My... More

These cottages have a delightful location on a cliff overlooking one of the most picturesque beaches on Kangaroo Island. The cottage we rented was spotless, comfortable and nicely furnished, just as they appear on the website. So far, so good. However, we found the proprietor rather inappropriate and intrusive. On several occasions, he turned up at our cottage unannounced on... More

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sad that you felt bothered by the proprietor and were surprised to read that you felt the cottage needed to be left as found. “Normal” cleaning is paid for as part of our rates. As any other accommodation, we will charge in cases of extreme extra cleaning or damage to property. Having... More

At first signting, the row of cabins on the ridge looked a little out-of-place (I guess I like cabins that are tucked away), but they are comfortable, well-designed, well-equipped, and spotlessly clean. The setting, at the top of an embankment overlooking beautiful Stokes Bay, is sublime. In the late afternoon, kangaroos were casually grazing in front of our cabin. The... More
