Stayed for 2 nights in Apr 12 in a double room - 3 Butterflies! Booked based on price and was happy with what we got. Double room, shared bathroom and access to a basic kitchen and laundry. Wifi available for a fee and lots of info available in reception. The place is out of town so be prepared for a... More

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. We had a private double for around $46 a night, so I wasn't expecting anything amazing. First of all, Cairns is not a beautiful city. If you are coming to see the Great Barrier Reef, stay in Port Douglas. Cairns City Backpackers is on a dark and shady street a good... More

My wife booked this hostel based largely on price (including the promise of free dinner). We had just come from a nice hotel in Port Douglas, but even expecting a step down, we didn't expect this. We arrived late, but someone was still at the front desk, so they helped us out. Told us that the free dinner was at... More

We booked this one because Lonely Planet said it had a strictly enforced quiet policy which turned out not to be the case. There's no staff after 8 pm so people do what they like. The tv shuts off but we had people hanging out until 2 am being loud drunk and making it hard for anyone else to sleep.... More

They were convenient when we booked online for a triple seater for 60 dollars. They also had a deal with a pick up service which got us to the hotel in the middle of the night for 5 dollars a head. The room was big (actually almost a 4 seater). The toilet just across the corridor. Clean and comfortable. Has... More

Only stay here as a last resort! Booked this hostel from the reviews on other travel sites. Arrived early in the morning and was told we could hang out in the lobby and sleep. The staff left my keys in the mailbox (there is a key to the outergate which is good for safety) but there was absolutely no where... More

This hostel is basic and a little far from the city centre but the service from Hiromi is excellent and the tour desk gets a 10% discount on almost all the tours in Cairns which probably makes it worth staying here just for that.Double rooms had a shower which was good for $52 considering we paid $80 in Brisbane for... My first hostel stay and wasnt a pleasant one!Staff were very unhelpful and reception had queues all the time.Rooms were dated and not very clean, small poky communal bathrooms. Wasnt the best atmosphere around the place and distance from the city. The noise at night made it difficult to sleep despite signs around asking people to remain quiet after 11."Swimming pool" is... One of the neatest things about this place was that there weren't any room numbers. That being said, we ended up in "One Butterfly" the first night and "One frog" for our second two nights. "One Butterfly" was completely awesome. Comfortable and it felt like you were sleeping in a treehouse. Great room temperature and comfortable bed with toilets close... More
