If Im travelling solo, I always stay here when in Brisbane. For the price in this location, you cant beat it. Sure its got no air con, but the fans are actually really powerful and Ive never been too hot. And I need to be cool to sleep. Go to the french patisserie around the corner and get breakfast. It's not luxury accomodations but it's reasonably priced, clean, centrally located, and the staff is very friendly. There are individual rooms and hostel style as well, refrigerator and tea service in room, as well as a fully equipped common area kitchen.
