At short notice I had to travel to Brisbane and with the State of Origin taking place on the second night I was there I coudn't get a hotel room in Brisbane under $300+ a night. I chose the Queensport Motel purely because it wasn't a long way from the city.
Hemmant was a 15 minute taxi ride from the city, almost to the airport but on the other side of the river. It is in an industrial area and the only reason to stay there would be if you had business in that area.
Checking in after the office was closed I picked up my key from the saloon bar. The office wasn't open when I left at 8.00 in the morning.
The motel room was clean, comfortable and quiet. And they had a really good shower with hot water.
They don't do breakfast but I noticed a place open a couple of blocks away. I didn't enquire if the pub did dinner - probably did pub meals.
You would either need a car to stay there or be prepared for to pay $40 for a taxi one way; the train...
