We stayed at the campground, but visited the homestead a fair bit for drinks and eats, as well as some internet surfing. The homestead is a beautiful classic old Aussie and the history which is thoughtfully put up around the walls is extremely interesting. The fire was very welcome as well, and we had a lovely meal with the staff... More

My wife and I spent three days at the Ross River Resort while attending a wedding there. We were delighted at the way the staff worked to make the whole occasion memorable. Unexpectedly, the river was flowing, so they built a plank bridge to enable the wedding guests to reach the site of the wedding ceremony with dry feet! They... More

I agree with other reviewers - this place is not a resort and should be rebranded as a rustic homestead with cabins. To be fair, only drove there for lunch - which was cold, soggy crust quiche with salad and buns. It all looked very old and rustic - did not see the inside of the cabins. It didn't appear... More

On the 7th of April 2012, myself, my wife and 6 month son stayed at the cabins. We were there for a wedding and had a fantastic and relaxing time; Despite the rest of the other reviews the cabins seemed to be newly renovated, with nice stone floors, plenty of aircon, ensuite and bar fridge. The views were amazing, the... More

You go for a great experience: This is hardly a resort, as the managers are quick to point out, but it is fantastic. It's basic but allows you to really appreciate the outback and share an experience with the family who operate the homestead, and all the workers who choose to spend time there: retirees taking their time travelling around... Any place is what you make it, after reading other reviews we thought it must have been another place altogether. The managers and chef were outstanding and wanting to show us all it had to offer but our time was just too short. We will certainly be returning to spend more time there. It is not a 5 star resort... More

We were charged $18 per person to camp on the front lawn of the Ross River Resort. Only two other places in our travels (King's Creek Station and Yulara Campground) have dared to charged as much, and in addition to being right near iconic tourist attractions (Ross River is not) they also provided: -Cooking facilities -Refrigerators -Washing-up facilities -Laundry facilities... We had to pay $18 each to camp on the front lawn of this establishment. This is a shocking price considering that the usual price in the outback is $7 per person for many more facilities. Although Ross River claims to have camping facilities, we were only allowed access to the toilet block in the homestead which was very dirty... More

We had a terrific two day break. The hospitality was excellent, management and staff could not have been more helpful or friendly, even taking us to see sunrise over the Range. We treated it as homestead stay rather than resort and really enjoyed ourselves. The cabins are basic and showing their age, but are comfortable and reflect the era in... More

Accommodation $20 more than what was quoted. Staff were disinterested. Dinner was put in front of you, no choice straight from the freezer. The accommodation (resort - must be joking) was old, had holes in the floor and walls to let the mice in. Couldn't sleep all night because of the mice running around - two were actually in the...
