Curtin Springs is a little bit further away from Uluru than the 5 star desert resorts (just under an hours drive) but it allows you to see how a real cattle station operates. It's still privately run and you can share a drink with the original owners and hear some great stories of how they work the land. The actual... More

There are some "hotels" you stay in for luxury, some for a resort experience and some so you can walk to all the attractions, but you'll stay at Curtin Springs for a real look at a bit of Aussie outback life. The accommodation is actually pretty good. We stayed in a ensuite room which was originally build to house athletes... More

My husband and I (from Canberra) and son and Spanish partner from London stayed for 2 nights in 2 cabins which were adequate, clean and with shower and toilet and modern air conditioning. They were the Sydney Olympic athletes accommodation demountables. The gardens are beautiful and well cared for as is all the Station buildings. The restaurant is an open... More

I have just returned from my trip to the Red Centre, I spent 3 nights at Curtin Springs Cattle Station, I was not expecting 5 star accomodation when I booked a cattle station but for the price I was paying I expected a lot more than a tin shed, The "cabin" I stayed in was newly renovated. The family that... More

An interesting review this one. One of the benefits to living in the middle of the desert as we do, is that we are very close to the bush with very little buffer zone between us and Mother Nature. This means sometimes she wins. Due to the extremely high rainfall over most of Australia over the last 18 months, most... More

This is a must if you don't want to be severely overcharged at Ayers Rock. The cabins are small but modern, spotlessly clean and brilliant air conditioning. Staff are friendly and the outdoor bistro serves a great reasonably priced pub meal. Can save you upwards of $400 a night staying here to see "The Rock" and it is a reasonably... More

Can’t speak for the accommodations, but we stopped for breakfast at Curtin Springs because we didn’t want to spend any more time and money at the overpriced Yulara resort than was absolutely necessary. The restaurant staff was very pleasant and we had an excellent breakfast for a reasonable price. We really liked the feel of this place! More

I am reading all comments and I think it is worth to mention a couple of things.. First of all, don't forget that we/you are in the desert...If we expect to stay in a star-hotel, then we have to go to another place....:) A few things then: I spent 1 night in Curtin Springs campground last March as I was... Stayed for 2 nights as its only an hours drive from Ayers Rock and a fraction of the cost of staying at the Ayers Rock Resort. The cabin was basic and dated but clean. Fridge,Kettle and tea/coffee provided and reverse cycle Air conditioning. The beds were comfortable but as our cabin was close to the sites generator it was a... More

We had originally booked to stay here 3 nights but ended up staying only one. Not only were the 'amenities' so filthy that I opted not to shower my children in them, we had no hot water. There was frost on the ground outside and we had to shower in freezing cold water. The whole area smelt like effluent and... More

We did not try the motel, but we received great value at the campground: free (unpowered) sites, only a couple of dollars for lots of water in the showers. Bathrooms are obvioulsy quite old, but they are thoroughly cleaned with power jet every morning, so they are clean enough. Eccentric and friendly owners. A much more satisfying experience than the...
