My husband and myself stayed at the Vulcan Hotel for 1 night only, this was with a scoupon voucher. Very dingy looking from the outside, rooms average. 1 hour after our departure I was flabogasted by a phone call received by the Receptionist at the Vulcan to make us aware of a $200.00 incident debit they had already debited from... Small room and tacky toliet. Room faced another window directly so had to keep the blinds closed all the time. Good thing was location-close to function centre and staff were friendly and helpful. Although bit annoyed that they take authorisation payment off credit card as well as payment when you settle your account so for the next few days or... More

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Vulcan Hotel. Our room was lovely and clean with a very comfortable queen bed. The bathroom may have been a little small but it served it's purpose. The hotel looks and feels very modern inside even though it is an old building. The staff were VERY helpful and polite. Our breakfast... More

The rooms in this hostel are small, but have everything you need. The fridge in the room was also very useful. The cafe serves a nice breakfast. Like everything else in Sydney, it's not cheap, but I think it gives a reasonable value for money compared to other places. The staff were very friendly and helpful. More

Stayed here one night and I am thankful it was only the one night. Room was facing a street couldn't sleep the whole night due to traffic going by all night. The only reason I stay in hotels is to sleep and it is not possible here. Bathroom was tiny and barely enough space to open the door. The room... More

Stayed in this hotel from a friend's scoupon voucher. The room was not as advertised: 1) We were provided a standard double room on the ground floor instead of the deluxe room as advertised. 2) There was no bottle of wine upon arrival, as advertised. 3) The following day's breakfast was not as advertised on the scoupon voucher. The 'scrumptious'... More

Staid here one night with work colleagues. My room was on the inside of the building. It was removed from the nosie of the surrounding streets and looked out onto the internal courtyard which is quite nice. However a group was sitting in their smoking. They could see straight into my room so I had NO PRIVACY and had to... More

Booked this hotel last minute as emergency accommodation because my new apartment wasn't ready yet. I booked a standard double but was upgraded to a luxury triple. Rahman at reception was really friendly, gave great directions and free wifi! The rooms were beautiful and clean. The location is amazing, just a short walk to Chinatown but in a quiet location. We discovered this modern-ised ex-pub whilst searching the net for post-SADE concert accommodation. Their web site made everything look modern & enticing. However, heritage buildings such as this are notoriously expensive to renovate & maintain, so we made allowances for that. Staff very welcoming & friendly. Undercover parking only 2 minutes walk away & economical for city parking. Location is... More

Nice hotel, clean room, a bit noise from your top neighbour but otherwise OK. Locationwise: you would need a good pair of walking shoes to go to downtown Sydney. Public transport is a little bit further away (ca 10 - 15 minutes to the nearest (bus) station. Not that many restaurants, shops in the surrounding 2 blocks, you have to... More
