Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We have stayed happily at the Hyde Park Inn many times, with a balcony room overlooking Hyde Park. Our 17 Jan visit was a quick overnighter so booked a cheaper internal room. The smell of damp and mould was appalling. The only small high window opened onto noisy plant equipment. This is surely a health hazard for anyone with a respiratory illness. We should have complained and asked for another room, but the receptionist that day was not very approachable and my travelling companion didn’t want to make a fuss. It was pouring rain and humid, but walking in that was preferable to breathing the air in the room. We went back late, slept badly and got out early. Will never stay there again, which is sad after so many nice visits.

Good central location but expensive. £375 for 2 nights. Price included continental breakfast which was of poor quality and quantity. Eg 2 small jams, 2 small butters and a small milk for 2 people. We were out for 11 hours one day and came back to find bed not made, bathroom not serviced and no breakfast for the next day. We went to shop to buy our own teabags and milk. Duty manager never apologised. Said it was unfortunate and even suggested it was our fault in that we could have left the DND sign out -no or the room untidy- definitely no! It would appear that they rely on customers to wash up the breakfast things. The mugs were v stained so I boiled them before use. The bathroom on the second floor, available for general use, was dirty with overflowing bins.

Overseas visitor - an ordeal at check-in, asked them to charge the card I made the booking with but they would not because it was my wife's card and she was not with me. After looking at the T&C's it is stated although not made clear at booking time. I offered a telegraphic transfer but they refused, finally transferred some money to my debit card and checked in. Requested smoking room but no ash tray provided (I was on the smoking floor). Breakfast, 1 piece of toast (first 2 days I received 2). 2nd day liquid soap ran out mid shower, went to reception to request refill which they just left on the table, seems need some tool to install in the wall receptical, not done 3 days later. Wi-fi drops out repeatedly on a WhatsApp video call. Repeatedly asked for white bread but continued to receive brown. During the week carpet not vacuumed. Room and other amenities quite good. The balcony was filthy and looked like not cleaned for a year, if ever. Reception looks like the last update was 20 or 30 years ago - very ordinary.

The room was excellent, beds and pillows very comfy. Facilities exceeded expectation. Staff were very obliging and helpful. Directly opposite the Museum station which made it easy to get to from the airport. I would be delighted to stay there again.

Big difference from the pictures to reality. The hotel is in serious need of an renovation and a cleanup. The breakfast was also a dissapointment. Simple and in the fridge at the room. The fridge was dirty inside. We will not recommend this hotel.

Stayed with family - 2 adults + 2 primary aged school kids - for 2 nights in August. We were on the ninth floor and had a Deluxe Family 5 Studio Room. Hotel location great if you are using the train between the airport and the city. Museum station is just across the road and is only a few stops to the domestic terminal. We chose the hotel to stay within walking distance of the Capitol theatre for a show which we were seeing on the Friday. The walk between the theatre and the hotel with the kids was quick and easy. We had considered hotels closer to the theatre, but chose this as more central for other sight seeing. There is a Chemist Warehouse and a 7-11 within 30 second walk of the hotel lobby. Waking to views of the park was really nice, though note that this is a city hotel - hence you are going to hear traffic and other noises of the city. It didn't cause us any disruption though and us and the kids slept well. We were happy with the breakfast supplied - but it is quite simple. Possibly there is room for improvement with breakfast - i.e. a bit more variety / specific taste (milk, bread type, etc.) - but it didn't bother us much for 2 nights. The room was a good size, the TV was nice and the kitchen was serviceable. The bathroom was also pretty good in my experience compared with a number of Sydney hotels I've stayed before. We walked each day from the hotel to do some sight seeing, take the ferry from Barangaroo, visited Power House museum and the surrounding cafes / restaurants for lunch / dinner. Probably my only gripe was that we could not locate any hotel information book / compendium in the room. I have come accustom to looking at those things at the hotels I've stayed in the past. Maybe in 2023 a QR code which linked to a site for information about the hotel, etc. would be nice. For example - I believe the hotel had room service linked with the restaurant connected to the lobby - as there was something written about it in the lift - but I wasn't sure, so we didn't use it. It isn't a big issue at all - just something I noted.

Great location and stay. Was a bit mouser than we are used to being in a city but I would definitely stay there again if I returned to Sydney. Clean and friendly. Really handy to the airport as the train station is across the road. Hyde Park is a nice green space for the kids to run about in and the view was great too.

Great location where you can easily walk to everything in the CBD. Friendly staff and clean room. Room lacks many amenities found in a nicer hotels, but definitely does the job. Continental breakfast did not meet expectations… So you might want to bring in some food. Two bedroom apartment is spacious and perfect for families.

I can't fault the staff because they were amazing. It was odd to find a double bed and a single bed in a room. The room was clean but I was expecting a bit more. It was the bed choices that let me down. The only bathroom accessible for those that arrive early is on the second floor and it's tiny and tight in there. Needs some attention.

No complaints from us. For our five night stay we were allocated a room with an amazing view (see pictures) on the top floor overlooking Hyde Park right by Museum Underground Stop and adjacent bus stops that link to Bondi Beach (333 Bus) and the City Centre. The room was spacious, clean, had a nice kitchenette and a balcony. A quiet air con unit helped in the 30+ degree heat when we stayed. The inclusive continental breakfast of cereal, toast and fruit was more than adequate as was the strong wi-fi. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Hyde Park Inn.
