This hotel is really a pub with rooms. We had an en suite room which I can only describe as adequate. The bed linen was way past its best and needed replacing. The paintwork on the outside of the building was peeling and needs renovation. Our room and the corridor it was on had recently been repainted so a plus... More

I stayed here for about 2 weeks while I tried to find more permanent accommodation in Sydney. Very reasonably priced for what you get. The dorms were very cramped: they were about 4x3m, with 3 bunk beds, so not a lot of space elsewhere. Carpets were really dirty, but by the time I left they were changing them and re... More

IF to put the service part asisde - it's worth the money. The location is ok and the rooms are large. It is above a bar so it is rather noisy in the evening (especially when there is live music on). However the service was so unfriendly that it topped any good emotions we might have had. Started with them... More

Didn't really know what to expect from this one when I turned up. Booked it because it was cheap and needed somewhere to crash for two nights upon arrival in Sydney. The room was spacious and although it wasn't exactly chic (needed a bit of paint) it was very clean and comfortable and really quiet for somewhere in the city.... More

For the price, Lord Wolseley provides a pleasant, acceptable, no-frills experience. * More HOSTEL than HOTEL. Staff is NOT there 24-7 but there is an emergency number to call. * Housed in an old building above a pub but surprisingly not noisy (perhaps because the pub closes at midnight). * As other reviewers have mentioned, the establishment attracts "the right... Manager confirmed via email that I could come in and pay in person as I had explained that their T&C's of not claiming responsibilty for safety of credit card was an issue for me. Gave manager dates of booking and said would be in over the weekend. On arrival booked out, no record of my request, manager phoned - no... More

This hotel is very cheap for sydney but there is obviously a problem with mould as my usually mild asthma was really bad here. The bar downstairs can be quite noisy although the noise usually finishes by midnight. We also had a maid waltz in our room while we were sleeping! stay somewhere else if you can afford to.... also... More

"the lord" as we call it, is genuinely one of the best hostels we stayed at in Australia, let alone Sydney. we stayed there for months, it was great. the staff are fantastic! really friendly and helpful. The hostel itself is small, yes, cramped, on occasion but its friendly and charming and has everything you need. free breakfast which is... More

The staff was very helpful with all of our questions and had some good sightseeing tips. The location is not too far from all of the city sights and out of the way enough to not be in the city busyness. The rooms are above a pub which didn't get too loud for us, but the smoke did come in... More

Really liked this hotel We were not sure about mould when we booked here but stayed here because a friend recommended it to us. We stayed in the dorm room and did not find any mould. The cleaning lady told us about that they had it all cleaned out and painted the room so there was no problem with the... More
