Was on a voucher from Getaway Lounge. Arrived late on friday night. Lovely welcome at reception that evening. Full of information, friendly, relaxed. Rooms nice and tidy. Comfortable. Breakfast staff wonderful and friendly. Good breakfast choices. Check out - returned swipe cards. Person at reception could do with some "anti-snob" training. Was asked for my voucher, which was already provided... More

Overall, my stay at the Brassey was fine - however for the high price charged I'd expect the heat pump to work and the windows cleaned. Black mould and dirt around the inside of the windows detracted greatly from what is a nice room (decent size). I felt some of hotel decor could be updated, and could do without fake... More

We recently stayed in 2 deluxe queen rooms for 2 nights booked through not1night. I had asked for our rooms to be next to or close to each other and our rooms were across the hall. The location was within walking distance to where we needed to go. As previously mentioned the hotel is also close to the cafes at... More

It is a grand old building, that has been well maintained. We love the location, walking to dine at Kingston or Manuka. We had a standard double, which was fine, not flash but good, clean and comfortable. Great value with brekky included, in the lovely dining room. Receptionist could be more welcoming. We had a lovely weekend without the kids... More

I recently stayed at Brassey of Canberra for a work conference. Prior to arriving I googled to see what they looked like and was not impressed. But the photos did not do it justice. I found the rooms where a good size, clean and comfortable. Only two things were not up to standard. My key failed every time I tried... More

I booked a 2 bedroom suite for a weekend as I was getting married in Canberra. Firstly, the receptionist had an abrupt manner both with the guests before us. Then she was loudly rude to the housekeeping staff via a walkie talkie (accompanied by much eye-rolling and face-pulling) while I was waiting for her attention. The heritage section of the... More

I have been a long standing fan of Tripadvisor and have availed myself of its reviews for personal travel and to garner feedback on The Brassey on many occasions. Whilst it is important that people are able to post their views and constructive criticisms of hotels and other travel experiences, the down side is that it also allows people to... More

I stayed here with a friend during a weekend getaway to Canberra from Sydney. Got a heritage room for 2 nights. I think it's a bit pricey - we paid about A$208 per night per room including breakfast, but oh well, I was told that hotels in Canberra are generally expensive. The reason why we picked this hotel was due... More

I stayed here with my mother and grandmother to visit Floriade, and if I come back to Canberra, I don't think I'll be staying here again. It's not so much 'old world charm' as 'totally outdated' - in our room alone, we had peeling paints, a knob that continued to come off a drawer despite our best efforts, and a... More

Let's keep this one simple. Run down with cheap looking renovator fittings now themselves well past use by date. Bathroom had no ventilation and walls were mouldy. When I told them as I left they seemed uninterested and sure enough when I rang a week later to follow up the manager had not heard of my complaint. The outside guttering... More

The Brassey Hotel in Canberra is well placed for seeing many of the cities government buildings and museums. About 10 mins by foot from Lake Burley Griffin it was a good place to set up base for our two days in the city. We arrived around 1:00pm to find our room ready for us, a pleasant surprise! On the first... More
