It's quite amazing. There, on the corner of Adelaide Avenue and Hopetoun Circuit, has been the iconic EMBASSY HOTEL, the vevue of at least 50 years of trysts and liasons. Now, on the same corner, in the same place, is a pile of bricks! They've demolished it! I wanted a souvenir, but I didn't see it going!. Ahhhh well. More

I recently stayed at the Embassy Motel and had a fine experience until the last day. It was clean, conveniently located, and the staff were friendly. The night before I checked out I needed to purchase internet access. It didn't work the first or second time I tried with the front office and on my third visit the manager had... More

We stayed two nights in the Embassy motel. On the plus side, the room had an excellent bedding. That was much appreciated. There was quite some room available and you didn't feel confined to a small closet. And the location was really convenient with a short drive to Manukau and the capitol hill. Otherwise, the room itself was antique. The... More

We are happy to hear that the bedding was satisfactory and which is an important part of the stay. I understand your comments about the bathrooms which are not modern by any means but are still functional however I was a bit surprised that you deem the room to be antique when the furnishings in all the rooms were replaced... That bloke at the desk should be sacked or if he's the owner, should sell up, because he's in the wrong job. Maybe factory work, where he doesn't encounter people is his calling. Rudest bloke i ever met. More

Well located in the faceless Canberra urban wilderness, the Embassy Motel gave me a good night's sleep after a rather odd night next door at a local football club bistro. The (much discussed) man at the Embassy front desk was not effusive, neither was he rude - he was a just bit reserved, I guess. Not a crime... The room... More

Thank you for the pleasant comments which are probably more in line with what we, and "that bloke", really are like! It is amazing the difference when obviously you have travelled with an open mind and have a better understanding of how a stay at any hotel can be rewarding when you treat motel staff in such a pleasant manner..... I had a problem with a neighbour making noise. When I asked to move rooms, the owner responded with suspicion and surliness bordering on hostility. More

I don't normally read or write reviews, but felt compelled to do so this instance. We were charged for drinks from the minibar THAT WE DID NOT CONSUME. It was our fault that we didn't insist on checking the minibar in the presence of the manager "Michael" at check out. We were not notified, but instead only found the charge... More

My worst Motel experience ever was at the Embassy Motel in Canberra, Australia. The management were heartless, uncooperative and inconsiderate people who made our lives miserable. I have stayed in some dodgy places in my time and I would rate all of them above the Embassy Motel in Canberra due to issues with customer service from the owner himself. I... More

In a word: yuck! Very seedy motel with some dodgy clientele (I was watching tv - not loudly - at 9pm at night and someone kept banging on the adjoining wall - quite scary!). Carpet was stained and linen and doona well past their best. Pillows were horribly old and lumpy. Several huntsmen spiders in the bathroom, despite the window... More

Stayed in this motel for 2 nights while visiting a friend in Canberra. It's not the most luxurious hotel in a world, but at $95 a night, it was more then adequate. Room was clean, service efficient. Will come back again if i have to. More
