4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2013 NEW

We stayed herenfor a pre-Christmas break following a recommendation from friends. Our room was really good, plenty of space, clean, nice good quality furnishings, in fact tres romantique. We decided to eat in the restaurant, which was again, very clean and well appointed. The menu is excellent, the service very good, and the food delicious. I would definitely go back.... More

This is a food only observation, we have not stayed over. Had a small family get together here in March. Have been many times in the past, but not for a few years. Menu is very tempting and we all looked forward to our meals but rarely have we been so disappointed! This is portion control gone crazy with even... More

Table and bar staff very efficient and generally personable. Manageress(?) Helen from Hull seemed a workaholic but the kitchen staff on a go slow. 40 minute wait for breakfast on 4 or 5 couples. Partner had 1 boiled egg and 1 not boiled egg. Evening meal just as slow, poor quality and very small quantities - usual Brit pub grub... More

We have just stayed here for one night and wished we could have stayed for longer. Our room (Room 9) was a "standard double" but it was far from standard - it was really large and very comfortable with every little extra you could think of from chocolates to 3 types of tea and proper coffee to make it feel... Stayed here for the second time in April 2013. Large luxury rooms, tasty fresh breakfast, great service. In our opinion excellent value for money. The food served in the restaurant was to die for, although the wait was rather long, which makes it hard with small children, but as the end result was great, it didn't matter that much. Will... We used to visit this pub on a regular basis when it was privately run as a Free House. We were very disappointed with it now it is run by a chain. The service is friendly but very robotic as if the staff are reading from a script. In place of hearty pub food a limited menu of pretentious offerings.... More

Can't fault this place! A beautiful old pub with a large selection of beer and ales, the food was also wonderful - very tasty and excellent value for money. Service very friendly and professional. Most highly recommended!

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for one night as a special treat in a standard double room. The room was nice enough (room 5), clean and warm. However, there was a drip from the room above which was heard behind the plasterboard every time someone used a tap in the room above. The bathroom was lovely. Great... More

This is our third visit to the Pilgrim inn, and obviously we have previously been impressed otherwise we would not have returned. However unfortunately the same cannot be said for our Easter weekend visit. The room and furnishings remain of a good standard although I would say they are starting to look a little tired and the room had a... More

Very friendly staff that made us feel very welcome and were great with my 2 year old nephew. Beautiful rooms and lovely warm pub with tasty food and relaxing friendly environment. Easy and plentiful parking. I would stay here again. On the edge of the new forest and only a few minutes drive from stunning scenery.
