From pre-dinner drinks by the fire to paying the bill this was a great dining experience. My Steak and Ale Pie was fabulous and my wife's Lambs liver delightful. The bar man and waiter were both very attentive without being overbearing. Hope to return one day. More

We have visited the restaurant here many times and have never had a bad meal. The staff are always courteous and efficient. On this occasion we visited on a Friday Lunchtime and hadn't booked but we were still accomodated. We would recommend booking at peak times however as it does get busy. The food was fabulous, and the portions very... More

we booked two weeks in advance, my birthday treat, very warm friendly staff, arrived about 10 mins early, ordered drinks at the bar, took at seat in the bar area, ordered food, the nice member of staff said that the table was not ready for us, but food would be ready soon, would we like to sit a this little... We didn't book - just turned up and hoped for the best (party of four) one weekday lunchtime. Though the pub was busy we were offered a table quickly, the staff were welcoming and gave us a choice of tables. The lunch was traditional good pub food - the scampi and chips was excellent, the ploughman's lunch was also tasty.... More

We arranged to meet friends and this establishment was the chosen venue. Our first ever visit, we arrived a little early and was warmly greeted. The choice of ale was to my liking too. A table had been reserved as we had been advised this was a popular establishment, and so it proved to be. We were escorted to our... More

This place is lovely, we went for a weekend along with family that have been before and highly recommended it! Very warm welcome, delightful clean cosy rooms, nice choice of real ales! We booked a meal for that evening which was a good job as it got very busy but service wasn't compromised and the food was sooo nice! Didn't... More

Over the last few years, myself, family and friends have used this lovely country pub for lunchtime meals on numerous occasions. I can say without reservation that the food has always been excellent and the staff extremely friendly. The menu provides a good varied selection of starters, main and sweet courses and the portions are always plentiful. The toilets are... More

We decided to visit here for lunch (and indeed we went out of our way based on other reviews) on a day trip to North Yorkshire. On arrival, looks promising, but on entry a dark and dingy establishment (get some more lights) designed I think to disguise the fact that everyone in there is over 80. We arrived at 12... More

A great deal of our customers are certainly well into their twilight years. They have a lot of time to decide where to go to eat and i am delighted that many of them chose to come to us, hence all the tables were fully booked. We don't use reserved signs as we have someone to great people at the... More

I have stayed at The Triton Inn for two years running now, whilst involved in 17th Century re-enactment weekends at Sledmere House and have found the accommodation, staff and definitely the food to be absolutely superb! I feel obliged to totally contradict the previous review entitled "pub grub". For the last 2 years the Inn have provided access to a... More

We only ate here so cannot review the accommodation, but have visited on several occasions (not my choice) and, personally, I don't find the food particularly special. Overcooked veg, cardboard Yorkshire puddings, but the risotto I had last time prompted this review. If the chef does not know or care how to make a decent risotto then don't put it... More

I was very sorry to read that you dont like the food at The Triton. I have read your comments very carefully and shall look into them. Im sure that we do make mistakes but had you made us aware of any of these problems we would have acted upon them immediately. We dont try to be a gastro pub... More
