Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It about the twelfth time I have stayed at the City View, great value and the owner Grant is on call and extremely helpful. Nothing and I repeat nothing is a problem from booking cabs, giving advice on the area & restaurants or organising bookings for you. Yes it’s is slightly aged but the accommodation is clean and tidy and is constantly undergoing upgrades each time I have visited, thank you for such a enjoyable stay

My partner and i Decided to call up on the day of to book a room for one night with our two sphynx cats, which was AWESOME!! Ended up staying 3 nights as we just didn't want to go home.. it was such a lovely place to stay. Have stayed here once before a few years back, has been updated since and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. The bed is SO big !! Was so comfortable and the sheets and blankets were luxurious, the room was so well presented when we came in.. the black out curtains are also a great thing! Plenty of facilities to use, microwave, kettle, flat screen TV, toaster, lamps, iron, hair-dryer & a heat pump. Our room had a bath which I found amazing and the best shower I've had in a long time !!.. you hear the occasional car from the bathroom only as the window was open and heard no neighbours at all the entire time.. you could not tell it was just off the highway. The service was so great we got stocked up on fresh towels, milk ect and had all our rubbish taken care of each day! Oh and the location is convenient too with the largest shopping complex in tasmania just 5 minutes walk down the hill and just a short drive over the bridge to get to Hobart city. The view from the hotel is awesome too!!

We were meant to stay at this hotel, however due to the uncertainity and COVID-19 had to change our flights outs. We had a no refund policy, however the hotel did not balk at giving us a full refund. Forever grateful.

We stayed here for a few nights with our dog and it was pleasant enough for the price. The room was tidy and traffic outside wasn't too loud. The one complaint I would have is that we only got 1 small bottle of shampoo between us, which wasn't replaced when the room was cleaned.

I recently stayed here for 2 nights, whilst the location is fine, I was told by the manager that even though my “deluxe” room had mostly a view of the highway running in front of the motel that I wouldn’t hear anything as there was soundproofing. Not sure where this was, because the traffic noise was very loud, also the noise between rooms was off putting being able to clearly hear conversations, television and other noises through the adjoining door. All the light switches were filthy, and the bathroom whilst serviceable is nothing special, when using the shower the whole bathroom floor gets wet as there is no partition to prevent this. To be perfectly honest as a solo traveller I felt uncomfortable here and if I had had a choice I would have found somewhere else to stay.

Lots of road signs made it easy to find. Rooms are large, and well appointed with plenty of power points and microwave. Amazing views over the city. Grant was a fantastic host. Easy to get to everywhere we wanted to go, and Grant was always willing to give suggestions. Stayed before, and will stay again. Thank you Grant for a wonderful stay.

The owner was very friendly and helpful and had plenty of tips to make the most of our stay. We stayed in a King Room, as did our friends in an adjoining suite. The motel was recommended by our friends and we were not disappointed. The room was spacious and clean and the owner had put the heaters on in advance for us. The bed was huge and comfortable. The motel has the amenities you would expect for a budget motel, flat screen tv, microwave, fridge, hairdryer, etc. My tips would be bring your own drinks and snacks and hair products. The bathroom was well lit and had a good size mirror for the application of makeup. I found adjusting the shower a little touchy but bottom line I would stay again. The nature walk behind the motel is an added delight. We went for a walk in the morning and saw a number of pademelons and wallabies, we had plenty of time to get to the football at Blundstone Arena. The afternoon before we walked to Eastlands Shopping Centre to do a bit of shopping (about a 15 min walk), and in the evening we caught a taxi to the Waterfront Hotel for dinner - (only a few mins away and all Taxi drivers seem to how to get to the motel). Overall this is a very good motel and we really enjoyed our stay!

Yes, it was a bit tricky to get there, but plenty of road signs finally got is there. Grant, the owner, was a wonderful host and one of the most interesting people we've met in our sixth year of travels down under. The motel was comfortable and clean and proved to be a welcome refuge after a long day of driving on the "other side" of the road for Americans like us. We heartily recommend this place to those about to visit this fascinating place called Tasmania.
