I am a Mundal(e)...& relative of Mondal(e)VP-USA. We spent a delightful time at the Hotel Mundal & evirons. Quaint/clean/moderately spacious rooms. A mix of antique & modern bedroom furnishings.Bathrooms are up to date & clean-roomy. Meals excellent 4course.Staff are knowledgeable & pleasant. It was a truly wonderful experience to tour the tiny village and see how the Sonjefjord plays into... More

We stayed at the Mundal hotel for one night in August 2011. We were travelling through the western fjords... The hotel is an amazing historic hotel but has not been renovated for decades. It's quite charming in the different salons, but our room was just horrible. Looks like we were staying in a youth hostel. The dinner is a fixed... More

There is something sort of amazing about the combination of rustic atmosphere and beautiful design at this hotel. Bring a book and just enjoy the atmosphere in the beautiful common spaces after dinner. Everyone who worked at the hotel was very helpful and friendly. We also had dinner there, which was good, but expensive even by Norwegian standards. I guess... More

It is hard to describe this place rich in Norwegian history. It's as if time stood still, although we know that it once was a bustling cruise ship harbour for glacier tourists. The Hotel Mundal is a wonderful, nostalgic place full of character and history. You feel absolutely welcome the minute you walk in the door, greeted either by the... More

We spent one night in the Hotel Mundal. It is in a beatiful location and the staff was nice and responsive. Our room was an odd mix of very old furnishings and had a dated bathroom. The dinner wasn't anything special (sliced ham and potatoes). Breakfast was good. Our stay somehow cost over $750. US Dollars for 2 adults and... More

Hotel Mundal is a small hotel in the village of Mundal in the Western Fjords, Norway. When asking questions of the staff in advance of the trip, the responses were not very helpful (i.e. no response or only partial response to questions about how to get there, what was close by etc). We travelled by train to Flam then boat... More

Beautiful, unspoilt hotel. Loved the traditional Norwegian furnishings and decor. Our room was very spacious with a large antique sofa and table, kingsize bed, old fashioned washstand and antique stove. Loved the fact that there was no television and would have happily thrown the phone out of the window! The bed can only be described as like sleeping in a... More

Beautiful place and Beautiful Hotel and Rooms. Seemed to stay in a place 50 years ago. Don't expect elegant rooms with big bathrooms, but that's not the spirit of the hotel so don't bother if beds are not the most comfortable you slept in and wooden walls are "noisy"...... Good news are over Service was poor and the lady answered... More

This hotel is the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in. The location is amazing and the rooms are very unique, however, we were served what can only be described as the most dismal food I have ever eaten! There are no options for eating in the small village of Mundal, apart from getting something in the local shop... More
