We stayed at the Cave Lodge for 2 nights and had a great time. Despite the fact that we got a little lost trying to find it (not much signage on the road) and the initial reception we got was a little on the cool side, we had a great stay. We had a comfortable bungalow that stayed cool in... More

Great value, location and ethos at this friendly run place. Love the approach to celebrating the local Shan people and the authenticity in catering, materials used and excursions offered. If you want the real perspective of northern Thailand and avoid the tourist masses- go to Cave Lodge. More

Our two night stay at the Cave Lodge was by far the most disappointing in the whole of Thailand. We have travelled around the south and north for the last month, staying in various places from hostels to five star resorts. Having read some of the positive reviews, we were initially very excited to come here and meet the Australian... More

Stayed in a deluxe cabin for two nights in december. The cabin was one of the newer ones on site - it was clean and comfortable - but very basic - having only a bed and a small shelving unit in the bedroom. There was a small balcony. The en-suite shower room had hot running water in the evening altho... More

Cave Lodge was by and large a brilliant experience. It really is in the middle of nowhere which was perfect since we were on a moped trip from Chiang Mai. I stayed for 3 nights in the dorm and did the Cave trip #1. That trek was awesome, 3 different types of caves including one that you have to crawl... More

I had a short one night stay here in January 2012. I only wish that I had allowed more time to enjoy this place and take advantage of the caving, trecking and kayaking on offer. My bungalow was either very new or recently refurbished and very comfortable as a result. Food and drink was of a very high standard and... More

If you are looking for a nature nest. It is the place. All bamboo hut, nested in the forest, above a river, nearby the famous Tam Lod. They serve food in the resort. Only point, you are so lost, no much to do around after dark Rooms go from the simple to simple good quality More

so I emailed regarding a kayak trip in advance and the only response that I got was that: yes there was a trip leaving and there would be plenty of room for my friend and I to join in. I called twice the week before to confirm that 1. there was still room for us on the trip and that... More

Good for you if you're considering skipping past Pai and going straight to Pang Mapha. Pai is a tourist hole, Pang Mapha is still "real", whatever that means. I'd say it's more traditional than most places tourists go, more untouched. John is a living legend, a veritable treasure chest of knowledge in the area. We went back in September I... More

I just wanted to thank John, his "boss" and the crew at Cave Lodge for making our four day stay a wonderful experience. The rooms were clean, the excursions fantastic and the family feel of the place just perfect. John has fantastic experience and advice for caving in the area, great staff that helped us with our kayaking adventure and... More
