Third floor front rooms have balconies, bath tubs and electric roll down shutters. Convenient to tram, bus, grocery, banks, and short but steep walk to old town. Very nice helpful management and friendly dog!

This hotel has had better times but is not degenerated. The rooms are clean and large, the sanitary is sufficient. The restaurant is quite good.

We just got back from a weeks skiing in the Serre Chevalier valley. We stayed at the Hotel Vauban which I can highly recommend as a base. It does have a little of a 1970s feel to it, but you have to remember this IS France!

On the plus side, the hotel is excellently located. The ski lift is just a few minutes away on foot.
There are automated blinds for the window, so you can sleep in complete darkness.
Showering is possible in the room and in a shared shower is available in the hall, so you don't need to queue!

I stayed at the Vauban in May 2007, as Briancon was the setting for one of the stages of the Giro d'Italia (Italy's version of the Tour de France). Briancon is a really wonderful little town and the Alps are beautiful but let me stick to reviewing the hotel.
