Just getting around to writing this review although I stayed at Chalalan in July 2008. It was my first jungle lodge experience and was a great way to experience the Amazon rainforest for the first time. Considering how very remote it is, I was very impressed by the standards of the lodge and the service it provides. We booked the... More

We stayed at Chalalan in early March and overall, it has to be said, it is a wonderful experience. The area is stunning, pristine rainforest, amazing wildlife. The room we had was basic, but that is exactly how it should be. They also seem to be doing a great job of not disturbing the environment as much as possible. BUT,... More

We had 4 days and 3 nights at the Chalalan Ecolodge. We enjoyed ever second of it! (including the torrential down pour) The huts are basic but comfortable and have essential mosquito nets. If you are lucky you will get a hut with its own hammocks. Our guide was fantastic. Very informative, spoke reasonably good english and knew how /... More

I stayed here for two nights and loved it. Lovely rooms (not posh but not basic either), unbeatable location. The activities were well organised and varied, the food was good and plentiful! The cheese and potato cakes for breakfast were a highlight! My guide, yadmani spoke excellent English, almost native, and was so knowledgeable. Well worth the extra money, unless... More

Our family, my son and his girlfriend, and her family just finished a marvelous visit to the Chalalan ecolodge (8 in our group). We all had a great time. In fact, half our group decided to stay on an extra few days. First, I have to disagree with the reviewer that pounded Ivan. He is definitely not the guy you... More

This is actually my second time with this well established ecotour operated by a local Quechua community. The first one took place some 7 years ago and was O.K. This one could have been just as fine had we been assigned a competent guide for the length of our tour. Actually IVAN, that’s his name, was everything but competent. During... More

Let me preface this review by saying I wasn't a fan of the jungle in general. The level of terrifying creepy crawlies was too much for me! Positives: housekeeping and meals were flawless, the lake is beautiful Negatives: our guide was useless! Barely spoke, didn't follow programme, was insulting. In general it was crazy overpriced. Expect not to follow any... More

If you also want to act sustainable during your travel this is the best option! The 5 days Chalalan Tour organized and booked at America Tours in La Paz was absolutely the best of our whole 2 month journey! We had a very nice guide, could learn a lot of spanish and we also had the luck so see many... More

Like Avetar in Real D! Late avo canoe on the lake with just my new wife was unforgettable. Honeymoon suite was wicked but perhaps a bucket of hot water would be nice in the morning for the extra money. The food needs some chilli and forget international cuisine, just whack it on the bbq. Highly recommend Giovanni as a guide,... More
