We went to this pub for lunch based on the reviews read here. Husband had pie and chips which was good but quite pricey at £11 for lunch time, little boy had a lovely kids meal, freshly cooked and home made chicken bites, had a lovely waitress Rebecca who left before the end of the meal so why the poor... This has to be one of our favourites whenever we travel up or down the A697. It's about 5 miles south of the border at Coldstream. Wonderful local produce, always well cooked and always good value for money. Doesn't look much from the outside, but don't be put off. The Specials board is the place to start. Can't fault this... The red lion was everything we wanted for a late Sunday afternoon, the only problem was that it was so hard to leave. After a few refreshing drinks we were ready for food only to find the specials which sounded amazing had sold out, but not to worry the regular menu had a good choice. We had serloin steak and... The Red Lion Inn in Milfield has been a great find for us - we used to pass through the village all the time and never really noticed this pub until one day, for some unknown reason, we decided to pop in for a drink and something to eat on our way to our timeshare cottage in Akeld. What an... More

My wife and I just returned from a week's holiday in Northumberland, with 5 nights spent on a B&B basis at the Red Lion pub. Our double room was beautifully appointed - we didn't need to ask for anything during our stay as everything had already been thought of, and our room was refreshed every day. Having a separate entrance... More

We stayed in rental cottages in Milfield and soon investigated the local pub. What a find! A haven during myweek with extended family. The real-ale was excellent, as was the food; near gastropub quality at pub-grub prices. Staff were welcoming, polite and accommodating. I cannot comment on the B&B aspect, but otherwise it is faultless. Make sure you book a... More

We stayed at The Red Lion Inn on our way up to the Highlands for a holiday. Ian, the landlord made us very welcome and insisted that we ask him for anything we needed. The two rooms are comfortable and very well appointed with their own access from the car park which made taking the dog with us much easier.... More
