This was my first visit to The Eagle, after 'googling' for a country pub near Swindon. Arrived with my friend as part of her birthday treat, Josh was very welcoming and explained menu choices to us. Beer was Well kept and local. Word needs to spread that this gem is open at lunchtime for great food and beer. Imagnative menu... More

This was our second visit to The Eagle and it just gets better, The food is excellent, beautifully presented, perfectly cooked and locally sourced. The rooms are spacious, neat and clean. Josh the manager works hard to make sure everything is to your liking. My wife and I eat out most weekends and we can positively say this is one... More

I have visited the Eagle Tavern many times, and I will keep on going... I always received a warm welcome, and there always a selection of beers and ales of offer. The menu is always different and allows you to try something new each time. The Sunday roasts are to die for. Great atmoshpere in all and the pub is... More

The Eagle Tavern is in a really charming thatched-cottage hamlet and it's a real find, it's characterful, charming and great value. We enjoyed a very warm welcome from Josh, who was limping badly that evening after an accident, but he soldiered on with a smile, and through breakfast too, a real trooper. The place was much more posh and gastro-pub... More

We found details for this little gem while surfing the web for a B&B near to where our son had moved to. The pub is nestled in a tiny hamlet not too far off the beaten track, enough for some peace but not too far to make it a trek to get too. We arrived in the afternoon and the... More

We had a wonderful stay at The Eagle. It has a superb location, in the middle of the Oxfordshire countryside, nestled in a tiny village. Our evening meal was delicious, as was the wine, and great value for money too and the full english breakfast the next day was the best I've probably ever had, Everything was cooked to perfection.... Visiting friends nearby, we decided to visit the newly refurbished Eagle Tavern for an evening meal. The simple accommodation allowed me to entertain without the worry of driving to find a hotel. Eating off the a la carte menu, all the food we ordered was tremendous, local ingredients such as lamb being cooked to perfection by the co-owner/chef Marcel, and... More

My wife and I picked this off the internet for an overnight Saturday night stay , and it turned out to be a great find. It has been newly re-furbished under new owners and things are just settling down. Wonderful food, good wine and a perfect ambience and in spite of being understaffed the service was exemplary. A separate dressing... More
