We arrived by bike - exhausted but happy. Very friendly reception - John just said to leave the bikes and he'd put them away for us. Fantastic location - surrounded by mixed woodland, full of birds. Excellent views of the hills, and looking down on the birds in the canopy from our room on the top floor. Lovely 15 minute... More

Second stay at this idyllic B&B. This time for 3 nights together with some friends. We know the area well as all four of us first visited the Eskdale Valley about 40 years ago. There are some lovely walks direct from the property with the option of low or high levels ones. The variety of birds and wildlife seen from... More

I only stayed for two nights at Forest How but I just feel in love with this place and the owners Jon & Debs, who just couldn't enough to help. Nestled between remote mountains and surrounded by The Lakes, a railway, fluffy sheep and numerous country pubs it was the ideal location. Far enough away from it all for some... More

Beautiful accomodation in a beautiful part of the world. Lovely, friendly couple who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived on their doorstep covered in mud! The lounge is a warm, cozy room, perfect for chilling out after a day on the fells. Breakfasts were large and delicious! Sharing breakfast with the birds and red squirrels was idyllic.... More

Jean and I have spent the last three years walking the Wainwright hills, and have stayed in many guest houses all over the Lake District during that time, and we think Forest How is the best of the lot. John and Deb's relaxed hospitality made us feel right at home. We were given a warm welcome on arrival, followed by... More
