We chose the place more or less at random online. When we arrived, we found the building itself to be nothing spectacular, but a pleasant modern building with generous common areas, adequate sized rooms and reasonable amenities. But the location -- at the very top of a hill overlooking the town and the sea and islands below and to the... More

stayed here for 3 nights in april and had an awesome stay. we got the choice of rooms as it was off season. hugh and wife really friendly, and the views over the village are stunning. lots of room for parking. comfy beds. excellent. 5 minutes walk out of the village but i thought that was actually better. My husband and I spent two nights in Ardara and we just loved it. We heard wonderful music, ate delicious food and enjoyed our stay at the Abbey Lodge. The bed and breakfast is a five minute walk from most of the pubs in town and has wonderful views of the bay. Hugh was warm, funny and made us feel... More

This B&B is on top of a hill, with great views of the bay to the south and mountains all around, from either of two living rooms and the breakfast room. And just a short walk into town for dinner or stores - good place to get Irish sweaters. Hugh cooks a great breakfast and is helpful on what to... More

We are regular visitors to Ardara but this is the first time we stayed in the Abbey Lodge. Can't really add much to what has already been said. Hugh is a wonderful and accommodating host and this typical B&B is very well placed in the town. The view from room 4 and the public areas is breath taking. The bed... More

Abbey Lodge is an adequate B&B in a town where there is not much choice. Hugh is a great host - very welcoming, friendly and cheerful. The property benefits from three large general rooms - a lounge, a general room (with internet) and a dining room. However this is a man's house - few soft touches, the large rooms needing... More

My two sisters and our three daughters just returned from ten days in Donegal. We stayed three nights in Ardara at Abbey Lodge and it was the favorite place we stayed for all six of us. The rooms are well equipped, the setting is a short walk to town and the views from the sitting room are spectacular. But what... More

We stayed one night here - had a very warm welcome from Hugh who plied us with tea and sandwiches on arrival. A beautifully located B&B, with views over the town and mountains from one window and town and sea from another. It wasn't busy, possibly because, and this is our only criticism, at 80 euros it was quite pricey.... More

We stayed at Abbey Lodge B&B and were really delighted. The accommodation was in a great location at the top of Ardara village and gave wonderful views to the surrounding hills and sea from the sitting room and breakfast room. The double room we had was more than adequate with with a lovely kingsize bed and beautiful bedding and en-suite... More

We had 1 night here on our tour of Donegal. Received a warm welcome from the host Hugh who could not do enough for you. The room was clean and spacious, but was in need of updating. Great views from the living room. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful. I would recommend this B&B however I did think it was... More
