St. Ruth's is about a ten minute drive from Athlone on a winding country road. Helen, the proprietress, is an absolute bundle of friendly energy. She gave us a few minutes to settle in, then invited us down for a cup of tea and a piece of homemade rhubarb tart with freshly whipped cream from the adjacent family dairy farm.... More

Helen and St. Ruth's are great! The B&B is a wonderful place to stay and Helen could not have been nicer. In fact, our group of 7 brother's, sister's, nieces and nephews were traveling in 2 cars and managed to get "slightly" off course in our attempt to find St. Ruth's. We apparently left our previous nights location with only... More

St. Ruth's was the highlight of our trip. Proprietor Helen is like your vivacious great aunt, offering a warm greeting, animated conversation, and a glimpse into her life spent on this working dairy farm. The guesthouse stands where the 300 year old family thatched cottage once stood (it sagged under the weight and had to be replaced in 1992) but... More

We stayed at St Ruth's on our last night in Ireland and so glad we did. We rocked up without a booking but were warmly welcomed by Helen. She offered us a selection of 2 rooms available and a cup of tea. We choose rooom 5 which was roomy with views to the front of the house. The room had... More

A review long overdue. St. Ruth's was our first stop on a whirlwind two week honeymoon. After flying in over night and learning how to drive on the other side of the car on the other side of the road, St. Ruth's was a very welcome site. Helen, whom I had spoken to via email a few times, welcomed us... More

Helen was a hoot and she served great Irish breakfast. Ask for the black sausage! My parents and I stayed. The rooms were immaculate. What a nice place to end our trip of Ireland! More

St. Ruth' s Farmhiuse epitomizes all that one conjures up when thinking about a traditional bed and breakfast! I really don't where to start to accurately portray our fabulous visit at St. Ruth's. This was our last night of an incredible 10 day visit through Ireland. Three out of our five bed and breakfast accomodations were incredible. However, St. Ruth's,... More

Helen truly makes you feel like family. Here food is wonderful, and the mushrooms served with her Irish Breakfast are grown on site. Though you will need a car to do anything, the country is a real Irish experience, and like Helen it feeds your soul. We used Helen's as our home base and though we didn't wonder too far... More
