Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed at the Commodore Hotel with my husband and my parents from Germany. We were given two beautiful sea view rooms with fantastic views over the Cobh promenade and the ocean. The rooms were spotless and spacious. The TV's had Netflix even. The terrace on the third floor wasn't open as it was very windy and rainy, but we asked at reception if they could open it up for us for a few minutes and they done that for us, so we were able to enjoy the wonderful views from up there. We also had dinner and the whole dining experience was perfect from start to finish. We had soup as starters, it was delicious. As mains we had scampis, turkey and ham and lasagne. All was beautiful. The desserts, apple crumble and profiteroles, were just as nice. The breakfast the next morning was gorgeous also. There was a wide choice on the menu. The staff couldn't have been more attentive. Nothing was asked too much. They really went the extra mile for us. Special thanks to Sabrina. Thank you again and keep up the good work. We will for sure return and would recommend this place to anyone. Sabrina & Neil Moynihan

There was a "cultural difference" over the word "single". To the hotel it meant a single room with a single bed and they only had single rooms overlooking the bins at the back. To me "single" means one person, in this case me, travelling solo and I wasn't prepared to spend €110 a night overlooking bins, when there were plenty of harbour view rooms available. I was told I should have asked. That is fine for people who know a location what questions to ask, but I didn't. I have to say that the Hotel Manager was marvellous and I stayed my two nights in a lovely harbour view room. Awesome views, beautifully clean and great breakfasts and service.

Where do i start? The room was amazing (sea view) one large double bed and a single bed. The room itself is old but very very clean with great high celings. The little rubber ducky on your toilet/loo roll is just a cute little topper to the room. The location is amazing been centrual to everything and only around 5ish mins from the train station, with the sea view we were lucky enough to see a cruise ship dock and depart once we were there. Will be coming back here again if im ever in Cobh again.

A good hotel however I booked in advance and the day before I arrived the hotel took full payment which I was ok with so I checked in and had dinner which I told them my room number which was duly noted, when I was finished I went to go upstairs to my room only to be chased by a waiter saying I left without paying I was very embarrassed by this aggressive behavior I had to go back down to pay, if this is official hotel policy then I must say it’s very bad and unacceptable policy.

Excellent food service and lovely staff beautiful hotel getting refurbished at the moment but still hasn't lost any of it's charm third time to stay there I'll definitely be back only one complaint you have to pay 7.50 per night to use their carpark I just think this should be a free service. Highly recommend this lovely hotel 🏨

This is a majestic hotel, however when it comes to the food it’s basic, the menu is Bistro Style, basic enough but for November it would be ok, if it was spectacular. I can only guess that the chef didn’t turn in tonight, but that’s no excuse, the starter selection is poor enough, however when you order their signature chicken wings with blue cheese sauce and you are only told when it’s being served, that you are getting garlic mayo, that’s not acceptable anyway, I should have refused it, but that is an uncomfortable thing to do. The steak was good but the bread just ok, and the chips were fine. I just think for the quality of the hotel, they should offer exceptional food, and on this occasion I cannot say that.

Staff very helpful and friendly upstairs, in the resturant and reception. Food was fabulous except for the poached egg was over cooked. The view from the sea view bedrooms made the stay. I would definitely book this hotel again and location is second to none.
