My wife our 18 month toddler and I stayed at Liss Ard Estate in November last year. It was off season and had some time off so decided to see what was available mid week for a few nights. We weren't looking for anything spectacular as we had a reasonable but not extensive budget to work from. A quick search... More

I only stayed at Liss Ard for one night - a very short (but much needed) weekend break in the country from a hectic week in London. I was warmly welcomed, and upgraded to a lovely, quiet and homely room is the main house. The house is a stunning country pile mixing old style grandeur (grand piano, gorgeous public rooms... More

We’ve just spent three brilliant days at Liss Ard. It’s a wonderful find, a little off the beaten track, in a very special part of the world. The charming estate felt like our very own temporary home with its open fires and relaxed atmosphere. The house and amazing gardens have plenty of brilliant old and, relatively, new stories to tell... More

Lis Ard means "high fort" and in addition to an extraordinary hotel there are ruins of an old ring fort and a new geo-creation called "the Crater". The hotel is really three buildings, the Main house, an addition called the "Mews" and a Lake house. You MUST check their web site - there isn't enough space here to give the... More

We have just returned from Liss Ard Estate where Arthur and his team can’t do enough for you – you really get an Irish welcome and are very well looked after. The food is fantastic, ingredients are sourced locally and cooked to perfection by Cliodhna. Meeting other guests over breakfast and after dinner coffee’s is a great change from other... More

Stayed at Liss Ard for five nights with family in September The estate is an absolute joy and one of the great hidden gems in Ireland. We (including a 2-year-old) thorougly enjoyed every minute of our stay in this special place, enhanced all the more by not knowing what exactly to expect. Liss Ard doesn't fit easily in the usual... Myself and my boyfriend had booked tickets for an event in skibbereen and almost as an afterthought had to find somewhere to stay nearby. We stumbled upon Liss Ard while trolling through the various hotel websites. We were a bit dubious when there was no star rating listed for Liss Ard but as soon as we arrived any doubts we... More

Just back from a fantastic two night stay at this magical spot. The house is beautiful with a tiny modern touch on top of the period features. Old world charm with every modern comfort. Really good food. Arthur was very helpful. The gardens are out of this world. I look forward to my next visit. My only small gripe is there... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in June 2011 in Roman’s Room Junior Suite. This is a wonderful and special place to stay. The house is very well maintained with some modern decor which works very well. Bedrooms and living areas are very comfortable with a great feeling of space. Beds are fantastic and should ensure a great nights sleep.... More

Arrived for a wedding nearby and the experience was great, time stood still and yes, not a hotel or a bed and breakfast; more like your own country house and gardens. Monica was a delight and nothing was too much for Arthur, the GM... Loved the shared breakfast and chit chat with other guests.... More
