Second best craic in a hostel in Ireland in my experience. Stayed 2 nights, with I had stayed longer, rather than at another B&B for the first couple of nights. Not a big hostel, but it's not in a big city, so it doesn't need to be. Indeed, it had a very homely atmosphere and was very tastefully fitted out.... More

We stayed in a private room at the Clifden Town Hostel for 5 nights in October 2012 and can absolutely not share any of the negative reviews we've read here. The facilities such as the bathrooms and the kitchen were cleaned every day, the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for cooking and we got a key for... More

This hostel is good value for your money. We had a two persons private room that was very clean and cosy. We had a great view on Clifden Bay. The kitchen and sitting area are ok. Kitchen needs some renovating but was clean. Except for the scrabble and chess board, there is notting to do in the hostel at night.... More

Recently spent a weekend here with 3 friends. Cannot fault this place- we were warmly greeted when we arrived. Our room was at the front facing the street but we didn't hear any noise from traffic or passers by. All the facilities were clean and the owner couldn't have been more helpful when we were organizing our day trip to... More

Stayed 2 nights with my wife and 9 year old daughter. This is a wierd place. The kitchen is a joke. It is so small it is totally inoperable with more than 2 people in it. I wish I'd taken some photo's. The dinning room is not much better given the size of the hostel. The owner Sean is eccentric... More

A bit noisy and dirty, even if you are in the centre of Clifden. The bathrooms miss intimity and are not very cleaned. Possible to have full irish breakfast at the bakery near the hostel. The bedrooms are not very cleaned (it smells humidity). But it's a nice place to meet other people who spend their holidays

The hostel: -No Internet (owner said fees off the pub across the street for free wifi, not cool) -No locks (security was a joke, front door left open, our dorm door didn't even latch properly and had no lock) -Showers are cold (ice water type of cold) -Kitchen is good (fair supply of cooking utensils of pots pans plates etc)... I staid there a few days ago, a week before it gets busy. It was quiet when I was there as it just opened. The owner is great. He is concerned about any wish you have and he really cares. He runs home to get you an Internet broadband stick, etc. It feels like this hostel really is his gem.... More
