Located a short drive from town it is probably not the place for you if you are looking to be near the action. If, like us, you want a quiet, country B & B with plenty of charm & atmosphere then this is the place to stay. We were the only guests the night we stayed and had the run... More

It was a great experience that enhanced the quality of our family holiday - our stay was something we'll always remember, positively. Both the accommodation and the host were full of character. The host was very good at giving accurate directions. More

I stayed recently at Caldra house after attending a party in nearby Carrick-on-Shannon. Though the B&B is located a short drive or taxi ride away from town it is a great relief to leave the manic atmosphere of Carrick at pub and club closing time on a weekend and decamp to the comparative calm of the guesthouse. I had checked... More

We were on our way from Sligo down to Newgrange and decided to stay in Carrick. I booked online and our hostess didn't even require me to hold the room with a credit card and I thought, I like this woman already. It took a bit of doing to find Caldra House because the road is marked only coming out... More

We (a couple) went over by car for a visit to grandchildren and a trip to Belfast for a family wedding. All went OK, but the Carrick area was subject to what we were told was the worst flooding ever. Caldra house remained well above all this, and Anabella's local knowledge allowed us to avoid the worst of the floods... More

Just got back from my hen party in Carrick and stayed in Caldra house for both nights. There were 15 of us. The house is comfortable and clean and set in some lovely surroundings. But what stands out most of all is the incredible hospitality that was shown to us by the lady of the house. She could not have... More

I would highly reccommend Caldra House. We went for a quick night away from Dublin and were pleased with the rooms and the house overall. Very comfortable place in quiet country surroundings with a view of the Shannon from the conservatory. Rooms were spotless and cosey with small touches like books in the bedside table. Lovely prints were on the... More

Upon arriving after a rather long journey we were immediately served a cup of coffee and biscuits - on the house. The lady of the house could not have been more accommodating and friendly and every assistance was given us to enjoy our stay in ?Caldra House. We can heartily recommend this wonderful old house. Just spent two days in Mid July 2003 at Caldra House. Welcomed by Anabela who had scones and tea ready on our arrival. Beautiful house in a wonderful setting and easy to find. Had more or less a free run of the house with access to large sitting room and a reading room and even a computer (which I had... More
