The Downhill is certainly in need of some love and attention.I stayed here with my brother and Uncle in November. The rooms were basic but clean, the staff were friendly and the breakfast in the morning was good although a little more would have been nice! Its the sort of spot a group of guys would go to,down their bag and hit... More

From the outside, you could mistake the Downhill Inn for a well-maintained, attractively situated Travel Inn. But in a good way - the sunshine paint job glows against the suitably emerald greensward, and warms you as you come in, should the weather have a Hibernian flounce. The low-rise profile also adds to a sense of intimate hospitality. Value for money... More

This is by far the worst experience I have had on my travels. I had a family wedding on in the town that weekend in march, when we arrived the place was buzzing with a Lions Club party which brought a good atmosphere to the hotel. We ate in the hotel and the food was pretty decent but when we... More

We had a 2 day stay and found the hotel perfectly adequate and just a short walk from town. The breakfast was cooked beautifully and good choice of fruit, cereal, etc. The staff were lovely especially the woman who cleaned & served our breakfast. I would have liked a few more sachets of tea, coffee, sugar and milk in the... More

I discovered this place by accident as a reduction in my overnight budget forced me to look for alternate accomodation....and I have to say I glad. I now stay here every time in Ballina and it's one of a very few hotels that I actually look forward to staying in. What makes it so special is the staff....the minute you... More

Most enjoyable week-end. Great Hotel to chill-out in, or partake in activivies and an ideal base for touring the North west area. Family run Hotel, staff very helpful especially the diningroom staff, very plesant and efficient in looking after all our needs. More

This hotel must is a rarity in Ireland nowadays. Poorly run, badly decorated, unsatisfactory food and not as cheap as other hotels in it's class, so can't use that as an excuse. I stayed only one night for business and was greeted by a friendly but extremely relaxed (slow) guy at reception. I found my room to be drab, tatty... More

We stayed in the Downhill Inn for two nights and we were constantly dissapointed. Firsty: we had trouble setting up the internet, the staff were absolutely no help. Then when we finally did set it up, we were only allowed log in four times and that was it for the day. Then the breakfast was hardly a 'full-irish'. It was... More
