The Weary Friar is a nice looking pub with good friendly staff. I had a cheese salad which was priced at £13.00, whilst it was lovely and had a large variety of goodies on the plate, I was hard pressed to see how the price could be justified. The cheese was a grated pile and there was no bread, even... More

We stayed here in 2012. The bar was warm but as soon as we climbed the stairs it was extremely cold. There was no heating on in the corridor or the bedroom. The room although clean was very shabby the worst one either of us have ever stayed in. There was a shabby old picture, bulbs did not match in... More

The wife and I, and our family have used the Weary Friar for a number of years and always had a good Pub Food but I had noticed over a period of time the cost’s has steadily increased. I took my wife to the Weary Friar just before Christmas and we had a nice meal, but it was Pub Food,... More

Having spent many evenings in the Weary Friar in our youth (40 years ago!) we were looking forward to visiting again while holidaying locally. We were not disappointed. It was a pleasure to find a pub with real character, together with a friendly welcome and good quality, old-fashioned pub-grub. We will definitely return if we're in the area again. More

I admit that I am more a fan of the new type of gastro pub with gentle palettes of colour from Farrow and Ball but the Weary Friar is comforting in its good old fashioned appeal and is reminds me that we have rather lost the genuine local pub, with dark patterned carpet and homely feel. One of the good... More

Reccomended locally - lovely traditional bar which was full; good selection of local beer and great barman!. We were seated in the 'restaurant' which is in fact a banqueting room with testle tables. Enormous menu to choose from and most dishes were a throwback to the 70's/80's - portions were huge but like a lot of pubs it fails to... More

We didn't actually stay here as we live nearby but we have now stopped here a few times for food and drink. We tried it for the first time a couple of weeks ago with friends, having a huge baked Camembert with big chunks of warm bread and chutney and some nice olives to share. The pub staff were extremely... More

Six of us thouroughly enjoyed an evening at this delightful pub. It was busier than I thought it would be for a Tuesday night. We had booked so our table was ready for us when we arrived. Excellent service. The 2 young ladies that took our order and served us were polite, attentive and very good at their jobs. There... More
