We had a lovely weekend at this charming hotel which was within easy reach of some beautiful walks and the lovely River Avon. Our deluxe room (number 12) was tastefully furnished, well equipped and very comfortable.
Have to write about our experience on a Sunday at the Swan. Sunday lunch with our family from Australia was not the pleasant experience we had expected. Poor service, had to ask for EVERYTHING, cold food and cold plates (and not enough of it), too expensive for what we had. Staff were conspicuous by their absence and we had to...

Charming place, very nice service. Will come back. Great breakfast.
A recent change of management has seen the Swan regenerated with enthusiasm and new ideas. Some 15 of us converged on the hotel for a birthday celebration. All needs were catered for with a 'can do' attitude prevalent with all staff. Service was excellent as were the rooms and food. Recommended highly!!!
Went into the swan for lunch and ordered a bowl of soup and was charged £5.95. Pricey I thought but the open fire is nice. When it turned up it was a small bowl and came with no bread. When I asked for bread I was told that this was a side order and I would be charged for it....

Stayed in room 1 - lovely quiet room away from any noise. Room was really nicely decorated - it is a real shame that the bathroom was in need of an update. Loved the feeling of the building overall and was all very clean but agree with some of the other reviews that a few things need updating (windows/curtains, bathroom)....

Where to start. Ice cold room with curtains that did not fit the window. Very scruffy decoration and tatty carpet. Holes in the duvet cover. Plug missing in bath. Unable to get the shower to deliver anything more than lukewarm water. Noisy location. Expensive. On the plus side the breakfast was good.
Stayed in room 1. Lovely room and very comfy - if a little squeaky - bed. Bathroom a bit shabby and tired though. The disappointment was when asking for lunch - or a drink a fraction late... the default answer seemed to be a grudging yes... I'll ask the chef - or ok, but you can only have one drink....

The rooms are looking in need of TLC. Our bathroom had paint peeling off the walls but was otherwise a lovely room. Having said that the location is superb, the atmosphere in the public rooms is good and the English breakfast is one of the best we have had. we would still stay here again.
