A proper pub in a lovely spot (but parking severely limited - unless arriving by boat) situated between the Kennett + Avon Canal and River Avon (fantastic walks). The publican has his own brewery so terrific ales. Meals are reasonably priced, plenty of choice and specials; children and dogs are all welcome, and service is friendly. Best to book for... More

Although I didn't stay here you can't beat this location to stop off at for a drink. If you like your real ales & cider then this is the place for you. Good service & friendly staff. It can be very busy here at weekends or in the summer as you would exspect being right next to the canal. The... More

we hired a boat for half a day and went as far as this pub for some lunch. It was a nice pub. Lots of nice ales to choose from. The food was nice, and it came quickly. We went on a dreary, cold, Friday afternoon in March. I can see that during the Summer, when the canal is really... More

Quiet evening, slow service, girl friendly but not well trained.Food average ,interesting building, poor toilets not very clean ,no loo roll.Manager unable to deal with complaints ,so sent a young waitress over to deal with it.She did extremely well, put the landlord to shame.Beautiful place spoilt by landlord .

Coffee and hot chocolate sounded good on a cold afternoon after walking 8 miles. Coffee arrived, 1" space at top of cup, I asked for it to be topped up, I was told it 'is an oversized cup' ....what? why not just top it up without comment, he did do it but wasn't pleasant,The cup was a normal sized cup,... If your thinking of staying here and expecting a warm welcome then you may be disappointed. After a stay of 1 hour and icicles forming on our noses the landlord was asked to turn the heating on, the perfectly reasonable request was met with the response that " this was not a bed and breakfast place" he had let us... Not many pubs left where you can get a decent affordable Sunday lunch, with all the trimmings! The walk back to the car was very much needed after leaving full after a roast with dessert for less than £15, so excellent value for money. The service was not five star but was swift, polite and to the point. They want... More

We found the pub when walking to the aqueduct on the Kennet canal from Bradford on Avon.its in a prime location very picturesque even in these winter months.we were drawn to the menu and hot spiced cider!! Service and welcome was so nice and very homely in there near the fireplace. The home made food is wonderful best ever steak... More

I do not recommend that anyone visits this establishment. We were looking forward to lunch after walking along the canal from Bradford-on-Avon. The pub appears to tick the boxes as you approach and the location is great, however the staff are rude and the service is appalling. I can only assume that as they have a captive market they cannot... More

Fab location tucked away at bottom of hill great tiered garden , place food orders at bar then have to go and collect your own food from kitchen door! When your number has been shouted out! When you get your food its below average shame as locstion brilliant.
