We travel a fair distance to visit family in the area regularly and despite having many choices of places to stay we always, without fail choose this pub and lodge. We can relax and our kids feel comfortable. The owners and staff are fantastic, if you looking for a good honest family pub, for whom nothing is too much trouble,... More

Myself and my family stayed at the George to celebrate mine and my husbands first wedding aniversary. We found the pub to be of a very high standard.. the service was second to none and when it came to my mothers special dietiery needs the chef was more than happy cook to her what ever she requested...which we were extremely... Had a awful meal in the restaurant the fish and chips were dreadful the worse ever. My wife had the Pork which was quite nice. The manager didn't like the complaint. The staff were most friendly and helpful. We are not the complaining type but in this case this had to be mentioned.

We have stayed here many times when diving at the National Diving & Activity Centre at Chepstow and they have always done us proud. The rooms are very comfortable, with all the amenities your would expect and the food at The George is excellent. My veggie breakfast included veggie bacon (a first as far as I recall!) and was every... More

We have visited The George many times and have always had great meals and service but when we visited on Wednesday something has gone wrong! We were given a laminated menu which looked like it belonged in a cafe or fast food restaurant. The "specials" board has disappeared and the menu has been reduced. This isn't always a bad thing... We stayed for two nights as we were going to a family wedding at Clearwell Castle and the service was 1st class, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spacious and clean, the food was really nice with a good choice of dishes and the breakfast was just what I needed. They managed to accomadate all 18 of us... More

I stayed here for one night whilst visiting the Forest of Dean. The rooms are very clean and modern with comfortable beds and the showers work well. The staff were all very welcoming and the food in the pub (both evening meal and breakfast) were really excellent. In addition, the quiz that was running in the pub was a fun... More

Stopped for 1 night in March and it was great value for money. Yes, there are things that could be improved (shower for example) but generally very good value for money and a great pub with lovely food & friendly staff. Plus free wifi which is major plus in area with poor mobile signals. I'll be stopping again.

Recently ate here while visiting my Father for a long weekend. Nice atmosphere and staff were friendly. Good selection of choice on the menu and a very hearty plate of food. We will definately be visiting again and would highly recommend.

The room was lovely and spacious with a rustic feature wall and a very comfortable bed. Delicious meals were served in the main building across the car park from the room. The evening menu had a good and varied choice and breakfast was plentiful with a choice of either Continental or Full English. Both meals were well cooked, well presented... More
