Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our group stayed in the Spinifex Shacks. Equipped with full kitchen and large living area and outside dinning area. We were able to accommodate 5 adults, however the size of bedrooms were probably more suited to a maximum of 4. Direct access to the beach and in close proximity to other activities, eateries and the airport made the location ideal for our large group. On-site facilities included a swimming pool and BBQs, with a small selection of drinks and ice creams available for purchase.

We stayed for 2 nights over school holidays 2A1C. We booked the new saltwater shacks, they were lovely, Spacious, new, well thought out. There is a full king bed in 1 room and 2 single beds in another. The bathroom wasnt too small, but weirdly the toilet paper holder is almost to the ground, not sure why..?! The kitchen area and storage are great. The couch is not that comfy, or big. The dining table is fine. The king bed was hard as a rock, i expected a little more for my $$ to be honest, but for 2 nights it was bearable. Double glazed windows keep the plane and other noise out very well. The balcony area is lovely with your own BBQ, but there is 3 steps down and no railing, so that could be trouble for smaller kids. The pool and slides are amazing. We never had a problem getting a lounger, and the park was busy but not ridiculous, which was nice. I much prefer this park than the big 4, the slides are a huge drawcard for my son. A bit of shade over the pool, even just half, would be great, that sun was HOT out there. The pool is heated, and you didnt get that shock of coldness even thought it wasnt that hot when we were there. Overall a great stay, and we would absolutely come stay again.

Our third and longest trip to The Retreat at West Beach. From the minute our family arrive, we just love it here! The close proximity to the beach, Glenelg, Henley and activities such as mini golf, West Adventure and The Big Wedgie is amazing! The park is relaxing, not overbearing and brilliant for children learning to navigate a cabin park. We always stay in the Sundowner cabins, a little older but a lot of space with an oval in front of the cabins, playground and washers very close by. Skala Bakery is brilliant and is within walking distance or biking distance. The West Beach Patiserre is at the Big 4 and also serves brilliant coffee and snacks etc - this place saved our life on Xmas & Boxing Day! The new West Beach Lifesaving Club has newly re-opened and worth booking for dinner and drinks. If you get chance - The Moseley beach club is awesome and family friendly too. Enjoy!

Amazing Place, we stayed in Sand Dune cabin #1 for 5 nights .. Fantastic cabin and recently new, But with some minor wear and tear. Obviously the park Is located very close to the airport so plane noise is to be expected.. once all the doors and windows are closed plane noise is less intrusive .,But yes did keep Us awake a little especially at 6am & 10pm. The pool and slides are 5 star resort style. At times a bit dangerous from Teenagers running up The slides and wiping out small children. *Not the park’s responsibility to monitor irresponsible guests* My only complaint would be as the cabin was located close to the pool the music from The pool Area seemed to be non stop. It was a great vibe, and some pretty good beats , but just not at 8am in the morning ..if you just wanted to chill outside, eat some breakfast or read on the deck , it was a hard balance to concentrate with the music & planes flying over head, was not a great relaxing environment for the ears.. However Cabins , facilities, grounds , access to the beach , staff fantastic can’t fault. Except the gardener who it appears does not like pulling or spraying weeds. The grounds are some of the most well Kept manicured lawns/grounds I’ve seen and weeds everywhere. Set my OCD off, I just found it strange to ignore all the weeds when keeping such lovely gardens . Definitely would come back when visiting Adelaide again..

Had a great stay early December. The Sand Dune Shack have been a hit for us 3 times now and having a heated/saltwater pool for us was the cherry on the cake. We swam everyday of our stay. The grounds are well kept and all the upgrading you can see thats being done to the accommodation sites is promising. Hopefully the quality of this place will remain for years to come so we can continue enjoying it each time we plan a trip:)

Cabin was excellent everything you would need. Only one thing I would say is windows need replacing they are rotting and full of mould which could be smelt when lying in bed as they were close only seemed to be ones with fly screens on. As I said everything else was great kids had a great time on the trickes and jumping pillow especially. Will certainly bring them back again for another stay.

Sand dune shacks are the perfect size for a family of 4. We had wild weather when we stayed and were impressed how it held up in the wind and rain, we felt cosy, warm and safe. We love swimming even though the weather was cold the pool was warmer in the water than out, kids had shorty wet suits and loved the slides. We checked out the sensory room and it was relaxing for us adults and kids were occupied while it was raining, we respect this area and wish for more spaces like this.

The sundowner unit was excellent. There was 5 of us staying in the one unit and 1 & 1/2 bathrooms were great to have. Unit was clean and spacious. We travelled from interstate for a weekend of family functions and it was the perfect unit to have friends and family drop in to see us. The large living area was brilliant and glass sliding doors opened onto the veranda for extra room. Every visitor commented on how great the unit was. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything needed. Plenty of space for children to play outside near the unit. We were not there long enough to use the park facilities - pool, playground etc but all looked to be well maintained. Staff were very helpful and polite. Plane noise was not an issue for us and close proximity to the airport was a factor in choosing this location for an early morning departure. I would definitely recommend The Retreat @ West Beach and will stay there again when visiting Adelaide.

Large cabin with a well laid out floor plan. Large kitchen and family area. Living area opened onto a verandah with seating and a bbq. Wonderful pool area with heated pool and 2 slides that kept the kids entertained. Go-karts and bicycles for hire. Communal bbq areas to meet up with friends and share a meal. Direct access to the beach and the coastal park path, a 70 km walking and cycling pathway along the Adelaide coastline. Plenty of dining options within walking distance or a quick drive. 10-minute drive from the airport and outlet shopping centre. Only negative was the sound of planes overhead at night. Around an hour's drive to Fox Creek Bike Park.
