We made our annual pilgrimage to the wonder medieval town of Stein Am Rhine in August, a place steeped in history and wonderful views. Of course our trip wouldnt be complete without staying at the Chlosterhof. We were a bit dismayed when we were shown into a room that wasnt a proper suite (that we had booked) and it didnt... More

We have visited this superb hotel every year for several years and we love it, ok there's no kids club and no beach but the hotel chlosterhof is wonderfully situated right on the banks of the River Rhine and at the bottom of the magical medieval town of Stein-Am-Rhine, the food here is excellent as is the service, we've always... This hotel certainly has a few assets: The location, only separated from the Rhine by a walkway and it’s two minutes walk to the historic center of Stein am Rhein. The rooms are larger than usual and they are equipped with a Nespresso coffee maker. I’ve not tried the indoor pool. Chlosterhof means monastery yard. Only sounds historic / romantic... More

We reserved a normal room, but because of our baby they gave us an upgrade to a huge suite. The service was exellent and the food we had for dinner good. Breakfast might need some improvements. Te location and the view to the Rhine river is great. It could be cleaner ... and some places need a renovation. More

Of course you cant judge a hotel on the basis of its complementary umbrellas but if you did the Closterhof would do very well. We needed them most of the time during our two days stay due to the weather but even the rain didnt detract from the charm of this hotel. It's a fairly dull looking building from the... More

The hotel is expertly staffed with real professionals. The restaurant serves the best food in Switzerland. The rooms, location, parking are the best. More

We have just returned from 2 days at the Hotel Chlosterhof. The hotel is in a very nice location on the rhine and 2 minutes by foot to the old city center ,on a very quiet location. The room is nice and big with a lateral view to the rhine, all rooms have a balcony. The breakfast is very good and... More

If you approach the town from the other side of the Rhine, you notice this ugly building between all the ancient ones. Well, that is the hotel. Once inside, it gets much better. Some rooms have balconies with Rhine views, others of the town. Stein am Rhein is a small town, so everything is in walking distance. The train station... More

Very 80's from the "local Disco" inside the hotel to the pink and grey rooms, and so so restaurant. If you find yourself marooned in this little corner of Switzerland (it doesnt feel swiss, it could be anywhere) you could do worse. The in place to be ( when Duran Duran were No. 1 in the charts) but now you... More
