Well this is a rather curious place. We've traveled all over Europe and this certainly is one of the most unusual places we've stayed in. It reminds us of a somewhat eccentric English country pub, with fine dining, but transformed into small town Mosel Plus points: The chef is excellent and food is very good indeed; fine dining service It... 2 weeks ago i stayed at the märchenhotel with my boyfriend. We booked a room for a long weekend. We got a room called Max und Moritz. We didn't know this fairytale because we live in the Netherlands, but it didn't bother. The room was big and looked great! The only thing i would have liked, was a bath. The... More

For all those who are romantic at heart, a stay at the Märchenhotel in Bernkastel is an absolute must. The entire Mosel region is simply lovely and great for hiking or cycling. They even offer classes, which we took advantage of during our vacation. We opted to stay in the Moselprinz (Mosel prince) room which truly made us feel like... More

Since my wife loves fairy tales and has always wanted to go to Europe, I knew I needed to bring her to the Märchenhotel for our honeymoon. We stayed in the Rapunzel room, which made for a truly magical experience and great memories. The room was extremely clean, neat and cozy and we enjoyed spending time on the terrace. The... More

We recently stayed 3 nights in the Marchenhotel and were extremely disappointed by the discrepancy between the hotel website, the reviews here and the actual reality of staying at the hotel. Having reviewed many other B&B's and hotels over the years, this is the first time I have ever felt the need to warn fellow travellers about a property. The... More

We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. You unfortunately did not voice your complaints immediately. In the coming time, we had several conversations and even at the check-out, you did not raise any concerns. We would have appreciated your feedback including negative comments. Flatscreen, blue-ray player, coffee machine, mini bar and hifi were certainly... More

The location is definitely the best thing about this place. We found the food good (although we only had breakfast), the staff seemed friendly but no one really spoke to us except at breakfast and on check in/departure. The rooms are clean but although they are themed, the finishing touches were not great, and somehow the personal touch was missing.... More

A quirky old-fashioned small hotel in the heart of Bernkastel. Personally I hated the fairytale theme and the old decor but perhaps some people like it. The good points were: the location, the size of the room was quite generous, and generaly things were clean. Also, there is free (but very slow) internet. The downsides were: poky bathroom, noisy rooms... More

Bernkastel-Kues is a beautiful idyllic town situated on the Mosel river. The Marchenhotel is a lovely half timbered building full of character and charm. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room we had was warm clean and beautifully styled on the theme of Snow White without being over the top. We went for the Christmas Market but got so... More

Met all expectations. Friendly and accommodating family-run (tenth generation) historic establishment. Creative cuisine served always fresh. A good breakfast spread. Excellent value for money. Each room is done in a fairy tale style. No elevator. The staff helps with carrying the bags to the upper levels. We missed the view of the Mosel valley, but having been on Reichenau island... More
