Pretty typical large hotel in appearance. However, the rooms were dingy, the A/C wasn't working and you had to pay for parking in the, mostly empty, hotel lot. Definitely not worth the money. May be suitable for the business traveler, but not for me! More

Large hotel for the area located in industrial - business zone. The Hazienda Mexican restaurant food was awful. Vegetables were not fresh cut up vegetables but rather volume processed frozen or canned served with mystery meat. Just as awful was the restaurant service. Rooms were adequate though dingy and poorly ventilated. Serviceable for one night but I would not return. More

Friendly staff. Helpful travel advice. Comfortable room, although some attention to detail would help as the curtains had several hooks misssing so drawing all of the light out was difficult. Confusing finding the hotel since the website hotels.com as well as the hotel website have it listed as the Carathotel Basel and the sign on the outside of the hotel names it the Atlas Hotel. On arrival first impressions weren't great - the car park was a mess and the lawns haven't seen a mower in ages. Checked in, reception staff perfectly ok, had extra pillows sent up when requested. It's not a bad hotel but i hate it to be supprised by extra charges when checking out. They charge you € 6,50 for parking. No signs to warn you and at checking in they don't mention, as it is a usual industrial parking lot! Internet is also very expensive (€) 10 per hour. More
