Like so many visitors we stayed in the hotel on route back to the UK. From the outside it's a rather unattractive concrete block which can be off-putting. Don't worry, though. The doors open on to a hotel packed with antiques and pictures, prints and curiosities of all kinds. The staff were helpful and the room beatifully clean. If you... More

A friendly, efficient receptionist welcomed us to Hotel Meurice offering us a free upgrade to an even more spacious and elegant room with a super separate bathroom and toilet. A large comfortable bed with pristine white bedding and squashy pillows. The hotel combines a bygone era of quality service with all the little extras such as tea and coffee making facilities... This is a fantastic place and a real treat to stay in. The interior is stuffed with fantastic old furniture, the bar is great and has a big selection of Scotch. Rooms are comfortable and clean. The dog was playful and friendly as well. The location is close to the ferry port and in the centre of Calais so great... More

Although some of the grandeur is fading now this is still a very good hotel which I booked at an excellent price through Tripadvisor, about half the price of one of the chain hotels when taking into account the inclusion of breakfast. The rooms have everything you could want and are clean. The breakfast included freshly squeezed orange juice and... More

Calais was the place I did the least amount of research on because I only considered it a brief stopover before heading to the chunnel train the next morning. Since we were traveling with too many bags I mainly wanted the hotel to be near one station or the other. It was fairly close to Ville and about a 14... More

Certainly an atypical hotel, poles apart from chain lodgings. Interesting décor from the 19th century and curious layout, Meurice is an old-fashioned but upscale hotel connected to an old-fashioned gourmet restaurant. (The two are connected physically but not financially.) Our room had three unneeded doors and two extra walls that could have been removed, but they give the place an... More

We booked the Hotel Meurice after consulting tripadvisor, and we were pleased with our choice - it was rightly well-recommended! We were impressed with the grand entrance hall and resident dog. The overall atmosphere is olde-world charm and quirky character, comfortable, very French - much better overall than the clean, well-equipped but soulless Ibis that we stayed in last time... More

Thank you very much for your compliments. We try to maintain original our hotel, that's really our difference between our hotel and a chains hotel, and my classic cars are in the good tempo with it. See you soon J.C.COSSART More

Easy Street Parking outside at no cost, if you don't wat to eat at the Dillagence restaurant next door then there is a good choice within a few minutes walk. Also sight seeing in Calais again is not far. The Hotel itself is an odd mix, outside its rather grey - almost grubby looking, Inside it almost has a 'Grand'... More

We have been using the Meurice for several years now, and it continues to be one of the delights of our visits to France. The comfortable beds, the quirky bathrooms/showers, the lady in the lift who never seems to tire of telling me where I am….at every stage I feel very much at home..not my home, but a sort of... More

I've been using the Meurice for at least 8 years and find it comfortable, friendly, full of character and a great alternative to the hotel chains. The sous-sol garage is very handy and it's only 10 minutes by car from the Tunnel. Pay in Sterling and you'll get a better deal.

Thank you for your comment, we always are happy when an client for a long time comment as you. In fact, we agree with you about rooms 40. May be they are smaller than our superior rooms, but as all our rooms, they have the same comfort. See you soon, J.C.COSSART-OWNER More
