It's hard to add much of substance to the superlatives written by other reviewers - they are right! Sarlat and environs proved to be as great an experience as Rick Steves' guide told us, including the recommendation of La Lanterne. We thoroughly enjoyed our interactions with the Bowens, our hosts. Best way to visit Sarlat and the Périgord Noir region is definitely to book one of the very charming rooms at the Lanterne and to enjoy an apéritif in the company of the Bowens :-) We had a wonderful time!

A beautiful B&B in a beautiful town. The hosts made us feel at home and were very helpful in every way possible. It was unusually cold and rainy during our visit and it was wonderful to have such a cozy place to come "home" to. A convenient location in town. Don't hesitate to book a room here.
