Expert hospitality is alive and well in this country home originally built by Enrico Caruso. Our host, Graziella, made us feel so special as we enjoyed her comfortable and welcoming home surrounded by an 800 tree olive orchard. Her recommendations for restaurants, knowledge of train/bus schedules and willingness to go the extra mile (kilometer) made our visit to Florence and Siena... After spending one night in Florence proper, we were looking for a more relaxing stay for the remainder of our forays to the Tuscan towns between Florence and Siena. We found it in Il Poggiolo, an unassuming and rustic but comfortable place to lodge just beyond Florence's northern suburbs -- in fact, from the nearby road just beyond the property... More

Our third stay at Il Poggiolo (May 2011) was wonderful and memorable, as always. Graziella is a terrific hostess, obliging and very helpful; her accommodations are large, comfortable and clean. She gives us “inside” information that would otherwise be unknown to tourists: where to eat, places to see, things to avoid, etc. This visit, our two sons wanted to rent... More

Great expectations for our first agrotourism but was a disapointment. The place is very hard to find, especially at nite that it when we arrived , eventually Graziella came to our rescue,.Bus service is very limited ,only every hour and none after 7 pm and still you need more connections to reach the city and end up spending hours on transportation.... Andrea and I stayed the nights of Feb 18 and 19, 2009. We had a wonderful time. The room/suite was great. The breakfast was in our room and very ample: cereal, bread or croissants with butter and jam including some fig jam from the farm, milk, juice, a toaster, and DIY American coffee. During warmer weather, I understand breakfast is... More

Stay away from this place! We made reservations 5 months in advance. Gave her our credit card number to hold a room. She emailed us the week before to confirm we were coming. We said yes and she never indicated there was a problem. I gave her my mobile phone number to call me if there was an issue that... More

I have traveled to 34 countries and stayed in many places, but I will always have a warm spot in my heart for Graziella and the wonderful time my wife and I had while staying with her in the Spring of 2003. She did everything to make the visit to Florence the very best. She took the time to make... More

My husband and I stayed with Graziella in the apartment (she gave us our choice, as we were the only guests) and we loved it. She picked us up from the airport after 1.5 days of travel, we stopped at the tabacchi for excellent cheese, salami, wine and bread that we could have in the apartment for snacking. Graziella kindly... More

When we arrived in Florence, Graziella was very gracious and offered to pick us up at a bus stop in the middle of the city. We agreed and she arrived very promptly and drove us to her house. Upon arrival, she showed us the apartment and even offered some wine and bread which we again agreed to. We found her... More

We had an unforgettable Italian agriturismo experience at B&B Il Poggiolo, just outside of Florence. We spent the last part of our honeymoon there in early October and we couldn't have loved it more. Il Poggiolo provides great location and atmosphere and Graziella is an amazing host! Il Poggiolo is located about about 3 miles from the heart of Florence,... More
