We only stayed one night, but as soon as we pulled into the driveway we wished we were staying longer. The gardens give you a deep sense of serenity and peace as soon as you get out of the car, the hostess (Sarah) is friendly and welcoming, - she welcomed us with a drink in the garden and I heartily... We have visited Old Whyly on three occasions and we continue to be delighted by it. The house is traditional and charming, the gardens beautiful ,and well tended, the cooking exceptional and the service friendly and efficient yet unobtrusive. Sarah Burgoyne deserves the highest praise for all that she has achieved and continues to offer here. Wonderful.

Just returned from a wonderful weekend at Sarah Burgoyne's beautiful home "Old Whyly". The house and garden are stunning - the interior was welcoming and beautifully decorated with fine furniture, each bedroom having a different theme. Picturesque grounds with tennis court and secluded swimming pool to enjoy in the summer. The food was amazing! From hand picked fresh vegetables at... More

We stayed for two nights in March 2012 and had a very relaxing weekend indeed. The house and surrounds are undoubtedly beautiful, but the thing that makes this B&B stand out from the rest is the host. Sarah is incredibly welcoming and an excellent cook. Although we have never done so before, we very much enjoyed dining with the other... More

Old Whyly in early spring is a rare treat. This beautiful house with the most lovely and well kept garden are warm and homely. Owner and star chef Sarah went out of her way to make us wellcome and comfortable. The 'Chinese' room we were sleeping in was beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. We had a peek... We stayed for 3 nights at Old Whyly with our little dog and it was a wonderful and relaxing stay. The bed was extremely comfortable and the living room had a lovely roaring fire. Sarah is warm and charming, and is very helpful on tips on where to visit or to eat. The house and grounds are beautiful and extremely... More

What a beautiful home and grounds. We adored our stay and are so glad we went. We were given a scrumptious breakfast and excellent recommendations about where to go explore around the area. I will definitely be back!

The house and location are stunning. The plus points were the location and the house. Our room was cold though and had an odd unpleasant smell. The thing that let it down was that I felt that sometimes Sarah was curt and rude. It certainly felt like she had forgotten that we were customers. I came away certain I would... More

This is the beautiful family mansion which has stayed in a family for many generations. The hostess and her husband are wonderful and welcoming. We went there for just one night, and spent the morning walking in the house gardens, then went over to the town of Firle, then to The Griffin in Fletching for lunch, and back to London.... More
