We stayed 2 nights in a cabin on the harbour (number 33). The cabin was basic but clean, more utilitarian than luxury. The three rooms - living room, bedroom and bathroom - opened off a central hallway. The rooms themselves were warm but the hallway was unheated which made for some very cold trips between rooms during the winter. We... More

We had 5 days in Lofoten Islands (fantastic landscapes and atmosphere!) and we stayed in two rorbuer villages (at Storvagen and at Nusfjord). The robuer we had were very comfortable: there are in reality a large cabin with two bedrooms, a living room + kitchen, bathroom with shower and hall (all on the same floor). You can so make your... Nusfjord is the best preserved of many old fishing villages in Lofoton. However, not many lived here, except during the months of January through March when fishermen from all over came her to participate in the Lofoten fisheries, going after the the big cods (skrei) coming in the millions from the arctic waters to spawn. 3200 fishermen need places to... This really is a beautiful place (in spite of the rain that fell, and the wind that blew). We arrived late after a series of mishaps, but as promised somebody was there to let us into our cabin over the fjord. Well appointed, with lots of nice features, it was a lovely place to be for a couple of nights.... More

I had the pleasure of staying in one of the "rorbus" (fisherman cottages) on several occasions in spring 2012. The cottages I stayed in (not sure if it was the A or B type) were all very clean and a nice combination of adequate comfort in an antique setting. The prices at the restaurant were quite steep even for Norwegian... More

Rorbu's are fisherman's cottages, in particular those one are original (obviously renewed); are simple accommodation, so don’t expect luxury. We were in a A+ category with a "fully equipped kitchen" and a simply bathroom with shower. It was a little bit expensive but very well equipped. Wonderful view on the fjord (pay attention to the location of the rorbu, some... More

Nusfjord is actually a very small village and the rorbu facilities occupy most of the village itself, sot it's a very cosy atmosphere. The rorbu itself (which was one of the A+ category), was fairly expensive but very well equipped, with all useful appliances (washing machine, dish washer, oven...), and a great view on the fjord. Nusfjord is a great... More

Rorbu's are by definition simple accomodation - they used to be fisherman's cottages so we weren't expecting luxury, but we were disappointed in the misleading descriptions given on the website. We were in a category B Rorbu which was advertised as having a "fully equipped kitchen" when in fact it was very basic - a 1970's style (very tatty) cooker... More

We spent three nights at in Nusfjord in July with two teenagers. Our rorbu could (tecnically) sleep 9 but 4 was just right. The cabin (A-type) was newly refurbished with all necessary kitchen utensils one could need (including coffee). The "rorbu" concept is charming and simple but if you are tall be forewarned that the ceiling is quite low. We... More

Nusfjord is a charming little town with two restaurants (one for lunch/evening drinks, the other for breakfast/dinner), a general store (which primarily sells souvenirs, but carries a few staples like eggs and muesli), and a number of historical buildings that are preserved as part of the village's designation as a Unesco World Heritage site. The town is quiet and peaceful... More
