Cycling the Hadrian's Wall Cycle route we stayed for 2 nights here. Wonderful hotel, the room was extremely comfortable and very quiet. The first night was a Sunday so no meal available, but we walked into Brampton and found a pub serving there. Monday night we ate in and the food was delicious. The breakfasts were really good and great... More

Stayed at Oakwood at the end of easter for 1 night.just wish it could have been longer. We enjoyed a wonderfull home cooked evening meal and wine.Everything very warm and cosey as it was very cold at the time.Breakfast was very good, more than enough to keep you going for the day.Would sure stay again when visiting the area.

wonderful stay again at Oakwood Park my room was sumptuous huge and gorgeous. The little touches are so special. Sewing kit etc everything you can think of. I ate here again and the meal was superb I really reccommend the beef in cider with crusty dumplings and a good choice of home made deserts.Poor old Basil the turkey has died... More

Set in a Manor house with grounds the hotel is as comfortable as you cold wish for. Excellent food, had an evening meal and cooked breakfast and both were delicious. Quiet and good nights sleep. Great hosts and very good value for money. Will be using this hotel in future, a nice relaxed place to stay. The antidote to the... More

we were fortunate to spend a long weekend at Oakwood at the end of February 2013 amidst sunshine and crocus. Our room was fabulous, and so was the hospitality and attention; never intrusive but always a step ahead if you know what I mean. We were just a few miles from The wall, and Gretna and Carlisle too - the... More

Oakwood Park Hotel was recommended to us by a friend who had been on a walking break with friends along Hadrian's Wall. We were not disappointed. We arrived on a dank, damp and dark November early evening to a bright, warm welcome - warm in every way - the temperature of the house and the smiles of our charming hostess,... More

(Although we visited the Oakwood in November 2009, just recently realized that initial review posted under another profile.) WOW!!! Not much more could actually encompass the whole stay! Absolutely lovely manor; very absolutely wonderful meals!! Why leave the grounds to go to a restaraunt in town? The hosts were absolutely lovely, and did their best to anticipate all of our... More

Although we had to stay in the area due to a sad occasion, the hotel did not disappoint. The host was lovely and made us feel very welcome. A lovely old house, our party took up 3 rooms, all very nice/clean/large and had anything you'd possibily need. Bed was very comfy and got pretty warm at night so i wouldnt... More

So, for over 20 years the owner and now along with daughter have run this wonderful inn. Only 8 or 9 rooms, not sure of the number, the manor house has been a residence, a hospital in WWI and grand, old photos adorn the front hall and stairway. Our room was very large and very comfortable with views to the... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and could not fault our stay. Our hosts were most welcoming and the food was fantastic. We paid just over £70 for a 3 course meal for 4 people which included wine and aperitifs. It must be the best value meal we've had for years. The bedroom was spacious with very comfortable beds, the... More
